Prabhas’ latest film, the sci-fi thriller “Kalki 2898 AD,” has taken the box office by storm. In its opening weekend, the movie raked in a staggering Rs 500 crore (approximately $73.5 million) globally, establishing itself as a massive commercial success.
The film, directed by Nag Ashwin, opened to a thunderous response in India, grossing a mammoth Rs 95.3 crore nett (all languages) on its first day. While it saw a slight dip on the second day, collecting Rs 57.6 crore, “Kalki 2898 AD” bounced back over the weekend. On Saturday, the movie earned Rs 64.5 crore, and Sunday witnessed a significant jump with collections reaching Rs 85 crore nett in India across all languages. This brings the total domestic box office collection of “Kalki 2898 AD” to a phenomenal Rs 302.4 crore in just four days.
The film’s strong performance is further emphasized by the occupancy rate in Telugu markets. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, “Kalki 2898 AD” enjoyed a stellar occupancy rate of 84.24% (2D) and 80.02% (3D) in Telugu on Sunday.

“Kalki 2898 AD” has not only dominated the Indian market but has also achieved a historic feat overseas. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala revealed on Twitter that the movie has become the first Indian film to rake in a staggering $11 million (approximately Rs 90.2 crore) in its opening weekend at the North American box office.
