Prince William is set to appear in a new documentary focusing on his latest social initiative, aimed at tackling homelessness across the UK. The project, which aligns with his late mother Princess Diana‘s values, is expected to shed light on this pressing issue through a two-part series.

Prince William’s New Documentary: We Can End Homelessness

As reported by People, the documentary, titled Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, will air on ITV1 and ITVX in the fall of 2024. It will center around the Homewards program, an initiative started by Prince William and The Royal Foundation in June 2023. The series will cover the first year of this five-year project.

Viewers will follow Prince William as he travels across the UK, meeting individuals who have experienced homelessness and those currently affected by it. The documentary will also feature key advocates and project managers working to combat homelessness in six major areas: Aberdeen, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, Lambeth, Newport, and Sheffield.

Insights from BAFTA-Winning Director Leo Burley

Leo Burley, a BAFTA award-winning director, is leading the documentary’s production. Burley mentioned that they have been documenting Prince William and The Royal Foundation’s efforts over the past year. He highlighted that the film captures deeply moving stories from people experiencing homelessness, providing a comprehensive view of the crisis in the UK today.

Burley emphasized that the documentary showcases various aspects of homelessness, from street homelessness in Newport to families living in temporary accommodations in Sheffield, and youth homelessness in Aberdeen. He noted that everyone involved in the project welcomed the attention Prince William and Homewards are bringing to this critical issue.

The Homewards Initiative: Aiming for Long-Lasting Change

The Homewards initiative, spearheaded by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, seeks to address homelessness in a sustainable manner. The program focuses on creating innovative solutions that can be implemented nationwide, working closely with the six highlighted areas. The ultimate goal is to make homelessness rare, non-recurring, and brief.
