The next film based on a novel from bestselling author Colleen Hoover is arriving in theaters. Regretting You, a romantic drama starring Allison Williams and Mckenna Grace, tells the story of a mother and daughter navigating overwhelming grief and family secrets. The film is scheduled for a global theatrical release on October 24, 2025.

The Story of Grief and Family Secrets

Regretting You centers on the strained relationship between a young mother, Morgan Grant (Allison Williams), and her teenage daughter, Clara Grant (Mckenna Grace). Their dynamic is already difficult when a devastating car accident takes the life of Clara’s father, Chris. The tragedy forces Morgan and Clara to rely on each other, but it also unveils a hidden world of betrayal and long-kept secrets.

Morgan had to put her own dreams on hold when she had Clara at a young age. The tragic accident kills not only Morgan’s husband, Chris, but also her younger sister, Jenny. As the two women grapple with their loss, they must also confront the truth about the past. The official synopsis describes the film as an exploration of “what’s left behind after a devastating accident reveals a shocking betrayal,” forcing the characters to “confront family secrets, redefine love, and rediscover each other.”

Author Colleen Hoover explained the story is told “from a dual point-of-view centred on the inner lives of both a teen and adult protagonist.” She added, “I wanted to write a book that bridged the gap between young adult and contemporary romance so that mothers can read with their daughters.”
