Actress Responds to Online Backlash, Says Treatment Was Recommended by Doctor
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has addressed the controversy surrounding her recent social media post about hydrogen peroxide nebulization. The actress, who has been battling myositis since 2022, shared a picture of herself using the technique for treating viral infections. However, this recommendation drew criticism from doctors, including Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, also known as “The Liver Doc.”
Doctor Calls Out Dangerous Practice
Dr. Philips publicly criticized Prabhu for promoting unproven and potentially harmful medical practices. He highlighted the risks involved with hydrogen peroxide nebulization, emphasizing it is not recommended by medical professionals.

In response to the backlash, Prabhu took to social media to clarify her stance. She explained that she turned to alternative therapies after conventional treatments proved ineffective for her.
“Conventional treatments weren’t giving me the results I needed,” Prabhu stated. “It’s possible they work well for others, but in my case, I had to explore other options. I started researching alternative therapies and found treatments that were very helpful for me, and much more affordable than conventional medicine.”
Treatment Recommended by Medical Professional
Prabhu further clarified that she did not start this treatment on her own. “A highly qualified doctor, an MD who served in DRDO for 25 years, recommended this treatment to me,” she said. “Even with his background in conventional medicine, he saw the benefits of alternative therapies.”
Preferable Approach: Discussion Over Public Attack
Prabhu expressed her disappointment with Dr. Philips’ approach, suggesting a more constructive way to address the issue. “I’m sure Dr. Philips has far more medical knowledge than me,” she said. “However, I believe it would have been more productive if he had contacted me for a discussion rather than attacking me publicly. He could have reached out to my doctor, whom I had tagged in the post.”
