A female AfreecaTV BJ is under investigation for extorting approximately 840 million KRW (~ $600,000 USD) in cash and valuables from singer and musical actor Kim Junsu, according to a report by Munhwa Ilbo on November 15 KST.
Blackmail and Extortion Details
The Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Police revealed that they had requested an arrest warrant for the suspect, referred to as ‘A’, on November 13 KST. ‘A’ reportedly became acquainted with Kim Junsu in 2019 and began blackmailing him in September 2020. Using a recording of their conversation, ‘A’ threatened to expose the audio file on social media if her demands were not met.
Between September 2020 and her arrest, ‘A’ reportedly blackmailed Kim Junsu 101 times, coercing him into handing over cash and valuables worth 840 million KRW.
During the investigation, it was revealed that after meeting Kim Junsu in 2019, A threatened to distribute audio files of conversations about sexual intercourse and received money in exchange for not posting them.
Motive and Separate Legal Troubles
During the investigation, ‘A’ allegedly admitted to committing the crime to fund purchases for drug use. In addition, she is currently on trial for a separate drug-related offense in the Seoul Central District Court, further complicating her legal situation.
