A woman who accused actress Song Ha-yoon of school bullying has returned to South Korea to fight a lawsuit filed against her by the actress. The accuser, known only as A, expressed shock that Song Ha-yoon is taking legal action against her. She is preparing a countersuit and seeking 10 billion won in damages. The case involves events that allegedly happened twenty years ago.
The accuser first shared her story on JTBC’s program Crime Chief in April 2024. She claimed that Song Ha-yoon bullied and physically assaulted her in high school. She said the incident left her with injuries that needed more than four weeks to heal. Song Ha-yoon and her agency have denied all these allegations.
Accuser Reacts to Song Ha-yoon’s Lawsuit
In March 2025, the accuser was contacted by police informing her that Song Ha-yoon had filed a lawsuit against her. The accuser said she was shocked by this development. She believes the perpetrator is suing the victim and feels something is wrong. She thought the matter was behind her and had returned to a peaceful life in the United States.
“I thought I would not respond anymore and returned to a peaceful daily life. But in March this year, I was contacted by the police saying that Song Ha-yoon had filed a lawsuit against me. I was shocked. The perpetrator is suing the victim. Something is clearly wrong.”
Another victim told her that Song Ha-yoon is shameless. People around them said the actress has always been like that, so it is not surprising. The accuser decided to return to South Korea to address the legal challenges and protect her friends.
Dispute Over School Transfer and Violence Claims
Song Ha-yoon has stated that her forced school transfer was not related to any school violence. However, the accuser strongly disagrees with this. She believes the transfer was definitely due to a school violence incident. She recalls that the transfer happened during the summer uniform period, just after she had been beaten.
“Is there any other reason for a forced transfer? I do not think so. It was definitely because of a school violence incident. In the first or second lawsuit, they claimed she voluntarily transferred to Gujeong High School for active entertainment activities. But both schools are in the same district and only a short drive apart. The education office would not accept that reason. There was a confirmed disciplinary action, and everyone in the school knew about it.”
The accuser explained that she did not report the incident at the time because it was a different era. School violence was often brushed off, and seniors hitting juniors was common. The school violence committee would only act if peers were involved. She also mentioned that Song Ha-yoon’s boyfriend was a close friend of hers, which made things awkward.
Accuser Declines Financial Support and Covers Own Expenses
Song Ha-yoon’s legal team offered to cover the accuser’s travel expenses to return to South Korea for investigation. This included airfare, hotel, and transportation costs. However, the accuser declined this offer and decided to cover her own expenses. She did not want to accept support from the actress’s side.
The accuser claimed that the amount of support offered was less than initially promised. She said they first mentioned about 2.5 million KRW but later reduced it to 1.3-1.4 million KRW. She found it ridiculous that the media reported it as full support. She decided to pay her own way and seek reimbursement through legal channels later.
“Initially, they said they would support about 2.5 million KRW. I thought, ‘If they support it, I will take a vacation and go.’ But when I asked for details, there were disagreements, even about the airfare. The final amount mentioned was around 1.3 to 1.4 million KRW. So I decided not to accept it, yet the media reported it as full support. It was ridiculous.”
Accuser Prepares 10 Billion Won Countersuit
The accuser is preparing to file a damages lawsuit against Song Ha-yoon seeking 10 billion won. This amount is for direct and indirect harm caused by the actress. It includes compensation for emotional distress, international defamation, procedural damages from false accusations, and infringement on social survival rights.
Other damages include practical costs as an overseas resident, prevention of secondary harm by the perpetrator, and symbolic significance for preventing similar cases. The accuser emphasized that this is not a personal vendetta but a structural response to restore legal order and protect the public interest.
“This includes damages for mental suffering, international defamation, harm from criminal procedures related to false accusations, violation of the right to livelihood, denial of the right to respond, obstruction of public interest disclosures, costs borne as an overseas resident, prevention of further secondary harm by the perpetrator, the seriousness of false counterclaims and the symbolic meaning of preventing similar cases.”
The accuser originally revealed the alleged school violence through JTBC’s Crime Chief in 2024. Song Ha-yoon’s agency denied all allegations at that time. However, the controversy continued, and Song Ha-yoon’s contract with her agency expired. She took a temporary hiatus from her entertainment activities.
Song Ha-yoon’s Legal Actions and Agency Response
In July 2025, Song Ha-yoon’s legal team filed a criminal complaint against the accuser. The charges included defamation, obstruction of business by deception, and threats. They claimed that the allegations raised by the accuser were untrue. The accuser was designated as a wanted suspect in July 2025.
Song Ha-yoon’s agency, King Kong by Starship, had earlier confirmed that the actress was expelled from high school due to a school violence incident. However, they said it was unrelated to the accuser’s claims. They stated that all allegations on Crime Chief were not true and vowed legal action.
The accuser now plans to countersue Song Ha-yoon for false accusation, defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, defamation by false information under the Criminal Act, and coercion. She also intends to take legal action against Song’s legal representatives for joint defamation and defamation through publication.
