After completing his mandatory military service, popular actor Song Kang is making a strong comeback. He has announced his first fan meeting since being discharged and is in talks for a new Netflix drama that will show a different side of his acting.

The actor, known for hits like “Sweet Home” and “My Demon,” finished his service on October 1, 2025. His agency, Namoo Actors, quickly announced the “2025 Song Kang Fanmeeting ‘ROUND 2’ in Seoul,” set for November 8. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for the star, who is also considering a role as a piano prodigy in the upcoming series “Four Hands.”

A Low-Key Military Service and Warm Welcome Back

Song Kang enlisted as an active-duty soldier on April 2, 2024, and served for 18 months. He kept a low profile during his service but remained in the public eye through a few key appearances. He featured in a promotional video for the South Korean Ministry of National Defence’s “Defence Help Call” program. Photos of him with BTS member V, taken during their service, also circulated online, delighting fans.

His discharge on October 1 was a quiet affair. He left his military base in Chuncheon without a major public ceremony. A clip shared by fans showed him greeting those who had waited for him, giving a casual salute and accepting gifts from his car.

On October 2, he posted on Instagram, simply listing the dates of his service: “2024.04.02โ€“2025.10.01,” along with photos from his time in the army.

The “ROUND 2” Fan Meeting: Meaning and Global Reach

The upcoming fan meeting is more than just an event; it’s a symbolic fresh start for Song Kang. The title “ROUND 2” has a special meaning. In car racing, a “round” signifies the next stage of a race. The number “2” is designed to look like a flipped version of his first initial, “S.” Together, the name represents the second stage of his career and life after the military.

His agency, Namoo Actors, shared that he is preparing a variety of special stages and moments for his fans, known as “Songpyeon.” The agency stated:

“This will be Song Kangโ€™s first fan meeting since his discharge, and he is preparing diverse stages and moments for ‘Songpyeon’. We hope it will become a special memory for both Song Kang and the fans who have been waiting for him.”

The Seoul event is just the start of his global return. After the November 8 show at Yonsei University’s Centennial Memorial Hall, Song Kang will travel for his first-ever fan meeting in China. He will then head to Japan for events in Yokohama and Osaka later in November. Tickets for the Seoul fan meeting sold out quickly when they became available on October 15, showing the strong excitement for his return.

A New Role: The Piano Prodigy in “Four Hands”

Even before his discharge, Song Kang was receiving offers for his comeback project. The project he is most strongly linked to is the Netflix K-drama “Four Hands.”

Reports indicate that Song Kang has been offered the role of a gifted pianist in the series. The drama is set in an elite arts high school where music, rivalry, and the journey of self-discovery are central themes. His potential character would be a piano prodigy whose great talent hides deeper personal struggles.

The series is expected to be led by director Park Hyun Suk, known for “Song of the Bandits” and “Stranger Season 2.” While Song Kang’s agency has confirmed that the project is under review, it has not yet been officially confirmed. If he accepts, this role would be a significant shift from the monster-filled world of “Sweet Home,” allowing him to explore a more artistic and emotionally complex character.

Song Kang’s Path to Stardom

Song Kang’s career has been closely tied to Netflix, earning him the nickname “Son of Netflix” among fans. His first main role was in the 2019 Netflix series “Love Alarm,” which made him a familiar name to international viewers. He further built his romantic lead status with “Nevertheless” in 2021.

His role as Cha Hyun Soo in the popular horror series “Sweet Home” established him as a leading actor in action and survival genres. He continued this success with the fantasy romance “My Demon,” which aired from 2023 to 2024. Even while he was in the military, he maintained a presence through a special appearance in the film “Escape.”

The potential move to “Four Hands” suggests a desire to take on more nuanced roles, similar to his earlier part in “Navillera,” and to showcase greater depth as an actor.

The fan meeting in Seoul kicks off a busy season for Song Kang, reconnecting with his audience and potentially starting work on a challenging new drama that could redefine his career.
