The Story and Cast of the New Series

Spartacus: House of Ashur is not a direct continuation but an alternate history. It explores a “what if” scenario where the cunning Syrian former slave, Ashur, survives the events of the original series. In this new timeline, Ashur helps the Romans and is rewarded by being made the master, or Dominus, of the very gladiator school where he was once enslaved.

“A spectacular tale draped in violence and eroticism, this new series follows a man desperate to hold onto his newfound elite status while embarking on a quest for honor and glory.” – Variety review of the series

Nick E. Tarabay returns to play the lead role of Ashur. The story introduces Achillia, played by Tenika Davis, who is forced by Ashur to become a gladiatrixโ€”a female gladiator. This move shocks the traditional Roman world and becomes a central plot point.

Other key cast members include Graham McTavish as Korris, the trainer of the gladiators, and Lucy Lawless, who briefly reprises her original role as Lucretia. The series also features Jamaica Vaughan and Ivana Baquero as body slaves, and introduces historical figures like Julius Caesar, played by Jackson Gallagher.

The show is created by Steven S. DeKnight, who was the showrunner for the original Spartacus series. Like its predecessor, Spartacus: House of Ashur is rated TV-MA for intense graphic violence, strong sexual content, and adult language.
