Squid Game Season 3 VIP Actors Speak Out About Dubbing and Backlash Over Their Roles

The VIP characters in Squid Game Season 3 have faced heavy criticism from fans, with one actor calling their roles “useless” and blaming Netflix for poor dubbing choices. The new season, which premiered on June 27, 2025, introduced a fresh group of wealthy, masked spectators who bet on the deadly games. However, viewers quickly called out their performances as awkward and unnecessary.

VIP Actors Reveal Their Voices Were Dubbed Without Consent

Bryan Bucco, who played an American VIP in Squid Game Season 3, responded to fan backlash on TikTok. He confirmed that the actors’ original voices were replaced with English dubs, which made their performances sound unnatural.

“Those are the English dubs. Not the actorsโ€™ voices. I agree. They didnโ€™t further the story or compliment it well. It could be Netflix messing sh*t up?”

Bucco admitted he didnโ€™t know why Netflix decided to dub their lines, especially since the actors spoke English fluently. He speculated it might be a regional decision but criticized the final result. Despite this, he defended the voice actors, saying they did their best with the material.

Fans Call VIP Performances “Cringey” and “Horrible”

Many viewers took to social media to express their disappointment with the VIPs’ acting. Some compared their dialogue delivery to robotic AI-generated speech.

“They were speaking English like it was their first day on Earth. And the whole time I thought it was Grok, Meta AI and ChatGPT having a conversation.”
“The VIPs acting in Squid Game is worse than their characters my gawd.”
“Why do the VIPs in Squid Games sound like theyโ€™re dubbed over? Literally worst parts of the show.”

This isnโ€™t the first time the VIPs have faced backlash. Similar complaints were made in Season 1, where actors blamed poor translations and heavy masks for their stiff performances.

Who Are the New VIP Actors in Squid Game Season 3?

The latest season featured a mostly new cast of VIPs, including:

  • Bryan Bucco (American VIP)
  • Kevin Yorn (American VIP, also a lawyer for the showโ€™s creator)
  • David Sayers (British VIP)
  • Jane Wong (Hong Kong VIP, the only female in the group)
  • Jordan Lambertoni (French VIP)

Most of these actors are newcomers, and some, like Yorn, arenโ€™t professional actors at all. Bucco mentioned that filming was brief, with only three days on set alongside Lee Byung-hun (The Front Man).

Why Do the VIPs Keep Falling Short?

Previous VIP actors from Season 1 explained that their performances suffered due to:

  • Bad translations (scripts were sometimes done via Google Translate)
  • No context (they were only told to act like “dirtbag millionaires”)
  • Heavy masks and distant seating, forcing them to yell lines unnaturally

This time, the issue seems to be Netflixโ€™s dubbing choice, which made the dialogue sound forced. Despite the criticism, Bucco said he enjoyed filming and praised the cast and crew.

Will There Be More Squid Game After Season 3?

While Season 3 is confirmed as the final chapter, Netflix is planning an American spin-off directed by David Fincher. For now, fans are left debating whether the VIPs were a failed experiment or an intentional satire of wealthy elites.
