The family of the late Sulli has publicly spoken out, requesting statements from actor Kim Soo Hyun and director Lee Sa Rang (also known as Lee Robe), the director of the movie ‘Real‘ in which Sulli starred.
Sulli’s older brother, identified as Mr. A, released a statement to the press on the 28th, expressing the family’s long-lasting grief and gratitude for the support received over the past six years. He stated that they could no longer ignore the passing of the late Kim Sae Ron and offered his condolences to her family. Following this, Mr. A directly called for Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Sa Rang to address several key points related to Sulli’s experience filming ‘Real‘.
Questions Regarding the Movie ‘Real’
Mr. A raised specific concerns about the filming of ‘Real‘:
He stated that he learned from staff and actors present at Sulli’s funeral that the bed scene between Kim Soo Hyun and Sulli was not part of the original script and is asking for Kim Soo Hyun’s explanation regarding this change.
Mr. A questioned why a body double was allegedly not used for Sulli’s nude scenes during filming and why Sulli was reportedly persuaded and pressured into filming these scenes herself.
He disputed the explanation that the body double was absent due to illness on the day of the bed and nude scene filming. Mr. A cited accounts from attendees at Sulli’s funeral who claimed the body double was actually present on set that day. He is demanding clarification on this from both Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Sa Rang.
Mr. A emphasized that while they learned much at Sulli’s funeral, their questions are focused on these three specific factual points, urging sincere responses.
Support for Kim Sae Ron’s Family and Criticism of YouTuber
Mr. A also reportedly sent a letter to the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, expressing his wish for Kim Sae Ron’s bereaved family to receive a genuine apology and the truth regarding their situation. He also criticized YouTuber Lee Jin Ho, who allegedly denied the issues and attacked Sulli’s family, hoping that Kim Sae Ron’s family could find some peace.
Furthermore, Mr. A conveyed his willingness to meet with Kim Sae Ron’s family at any time to share in their pain, should they wish to do so.
Kwon Young Chan, director of the Korea Celebrity Suicide Prevention Association, offered his condolences to Sulli’s family, stating:
Though it’s late, we once again offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved family of the late Sulli.
He also appealed for an end to the malicious comments and harassment directed at Kim Sae Ron’s family.
Mr. A’s Recent Social Media Activity
In recent times, Mr. A has been directly critical of Kim Soo Hyun on social media. On the 28th, he posted on Instagram:
Six years since I lost my sister, six years since you toyed with her, six years of pain awaiting you—please don’t fall apart too soon.
Prior to this, on the 21st, Mr. A commented on rumors involving Kim Soo Hyun and the late Kim Sae Ron’s alleged underage relationship, stating:
My life, your life, everyone’s life is like ‘Real.’ It’s utter darkness.
Background on ‘Real’
The movie ‘Real‘, released in 2017, featured Sulli and Kim Soo Hyun as co-stars. Lee Sa Rang, the director, is also a co-founder of Gold Medalist, which is Kim Soo Hyun’s current agency. In the film, Sulli was involved in scenes with a significant level of exposure.
According to Sulli’s family, she expressed that she would never film another movie after appearing in ‘Real‘ and had to undergo psychiatric treatment due to the immense mental stress it caused her.
