The second episode of Surely Tomorrow raises the stakes, shifting from a story about old lovers to one about impossible family choices. Seo Ji-woo is ready to leave Korea for good, but a frantic airport chase and a devastating family secret threaten to pull her back.
The Aftermath of Scandal and Lingering Feelings
The episode picks up one month after the public scandal involving Ji-woo’s husband. Just as things begin to calm, a new rumor spreads online, painting Ji-woo as cold for supposedly reuniting with her ex, Lee Gyeong-do. To protect her, Gyeong-do writes a “giveback article” that defends her character. His words help repair her public image, showing how online attacks can have a lasting impact.
In private, their feelings are more complicated. Ji-woo tells her sister she plans to stay rational, but her actions say otherwise. She visits Gyeong-do’s new apartment, and their conversation is awkward until she spots a key detail.
Ji-woo notices he still wears a T-shirt she once gave him. The small detail breaks her guard and reminds her that their story is not finished.
Their old rhythm returns when they work together on an article. A reunion with their college friendsโSe-young, Woo-shik, and Jeong-minโhighlights the passage of time through flashbacks, contrasting their hopeful youth with their weary present. Despite the warmth, Ji-woo has made a secret decision: she is moving to England, believing distance is the only way to move on.
A Sister’s Secret and a Plea for Help
The story takes a serious turn with Ji-woo’s older sister, Seo Ji-yeon. She has been acting strangely, avoiding her husband and arriving home late. She meets Gyeong-do and reveals a devastating truth: she has been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s.
Ji-yeon’s fear is not just for her health. As the CEO of the family company, Jarim Apparel, she knows her mother cannot manage the business. She does not trust her husband, believing he will sell the company once she can no longer stop him. Her desperate request to Gyeong-do is to stop Ji-woo from leaving the country. She needs Ji-woo to stay in Korea and prepare to become the next CEO to protect their father’s legacy.
Ji-yeon pleads with Gyeong-do to stop Ji-woo from leaving and to protect her future. At first, he refuses and says Ji-woo deserves freedom. Ji-yeonโs tears break his resolve.
The Airport Confrontation That Changes Everything
The episode builds to a tense and somewhat absurd climax at the airport. As Ji-woo prepares to board her flight to England, Gyeong-do races to stop her. In a moment of pure desperation, he grabs her suitcase and runs, hoping to stall her.
Security quickly stops him, turning the dramatic gesture into a public spectacle. Ji-woo is left furious and confused. Bound by his promise to Ji-yeon, Gyeong-do cannot explain his true reasons. He stands before Ji-woo with pleading eyes, his silence speaking louder than any words. The scene perfectly captures the show’s mix of humor and deep emotion.

What’s Next for Ji-woo and Gyeong-do?
The episode ends with Ji-woo at a crossroads. She must choose between boarding the plane for her own peace or staying to shoulder the immense burden of her sister’s illness and the family company. Gyeong-do is now stuck in the middle, torn between his love for Ji-woo and his promise to protect her future.
Previews for the next episodes suggest Gyeong-do’s plea works. The two appear to start living together, forcing them to confront their unresolved past in new ways. More memories are set to surface, explaining why their relationship fractured. Friends will begin to question the nature of their current bond, and Ji-woo is shown asking Gyeong-do the central question: “Do you love me now?”.
Surely Tomorrow is streaming exclusively on Prime Video, with new episodes releasing every Saturday and Sunday. The series stars Park Seo-jun as Lee Gyeong-do and Won Ji-an as Seo Ji-woo.
