Taylor Swift is giving fans one final look at her record-breaking Eras Tour with a new documentary series and complete concert film coming to Disney+ in December. The six-part series will provide an intimate behind-the-scenes view of the tour that became a global phenomenon, while the concert film captures the complete final performance including songs from “The Tortured Poets Department.”
The announcement comes just after the release of Swift’s twelfth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” closing what has been the most intense chapter of her career. Both projects will begin streaming on December 12, 2025, offering fans a comprehensive conclusion to the tour that dominated pop culture for nearly two years.
What the Documentary and Concert Film Include
Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The End of an Era is a six-episode documentary series that chronicles the development and impact of the historic tour. The series promises an intimate look at Swift’s life as she brought the show around the world, featuring appearances from fellow performers and friends including Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, Ed Sheeran, and Florence Welch.
Simultaneously, Disney+ will release Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show, a complete concert film recorded during the tour’s final stop in Vancouver, Canada. This marks the first time fans can see the full “Tortured Poets Department” set that was added to the tour after the album’s release in April 2024.
The documentary is directed by Don Argott with co-direction by Sheena M. Joyce, while the concert film is directed by Glenn Weiss. The projects were produced by Taylor Swift Productions in association with Silent House Productions.
Release Schedule and Viewing Details
The content will roll out on Disney+ in stages throughout December:
- December 12, 2025: The first two episodes of the docuseries debut alongside the complete concert film
- Following two weeks: Two additional episodes will release each week until all six episodes are available
This release strategy means fans will have new content to enjoy through the holiday season. The documentary and film will be available exclusively on Disney+’s streaming platform, bypassing theatrical release.
Swift explained her motivation for the projects in an Instagram post, writing:
“It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.”
How This Differs From Previous Eras Tour Films
This new concert film offers significant differences from the previous “Eras Tour” movie that hit theaters in October 2023 and later came to Disney+:
- Includes “The Tortured Poets Department”: The original film was released before Swift’s 2024 album, so it didn’t feature any songs from that record
- Features the final Vancouver performance: Captures the emotional last show of the 20-month tour
- Complete three-hour-plus runtime: Showcases the full 45-song setlist from the tour’s conclusion
The tour’s final performances in Vancouver included the “Female Rage: The Musical Segment” from “The Tortured Poets Department” and surprise songs like “A Place in This World”/”New Romantics” and “Long Live”/”New Year’s Day” medleys.
The Historic Scale of the Eras Tour
The Eras Tour represents one of the most ambitious and successful concert tours in history. Beginning in March 2023 in Glendale, Arizona, and concluding in December 2024 in Vancouver, the tour spanned:
- 149 shows across 51 cities
- Five continents including North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia
- Over $2 billion in ticket sales, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time
- More than 10 million fans in attendance across 19 countries
With a runtime exceeding three and a half hours, the show drew from all but one of Swift’s studio albums, later incorporating material from “The Tortured Poets Department.” Swift has described the production as “absolutely the most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
The tour’s cultural impact extended beyond music, affecting local economies, inspiring new ticketing regulations, and generating news coverage that followed Swift’s every move across the globe. The earlier Eras Tour concert film set records itself, earning $267 million globally in theaters before moving to streaming.
These new projects will provide the definitive closing chapter to this unprecedented period in Swift’s career, coming just as she releases new music and moves into the next phase of her artistic journey.
