The crew of Australia’s most charming criminal is back for another round of heists and high-stakes medicine. The second season of The Artful Dodger arrives on Disney+ on February 10, 2026, with its lead stars returning and some new faces joining the adventure in Port Victory. The series continues the story of Jack Dawkins, the famous pickpocket from Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist,” who is now a surgeon trying to leave his past behind in 1850s Australia. This season raises the stakes with a dangerous new lawman, a risky heist, and a complicated love story.
The Main Trio Returns for More Trouble
The core cast that brought this Dickensian sequel to life is back for season two.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster returns as Dr. Jack Dawkins, also known as the Artful Dodger. His character is in more danger than ever. An official description of the new season states he has “an appointment with the noose” and is being hunted. His old life of crime keeps pulling him back, even as he tries to build a legitimate career as a surgeon.
Once again, David Thewlis plays the cunning Norbert Fagin, Jack’s former mentor. Fagin is the character who often drags Jack back into a life of crime. In the new season, he involves Dodger in what is described as “their most dangerous heist yet”.
Maia Mitchell reprises her role as Lady Belle Fox, the governor’s daughter who is determined to become a surgeon. Her ambition drives her into dangerous situations. Her relationship with Jack is also under threat, as seeing her could lead to his execution.
The New Faces in Port Victory
Season two introduces several new characters who will shake things up in the colony.
The most prominent newcomer is Luke Bracey, who joins the cast as Inspector Henry Boxer. Inspector Boxer is Port Victory’s new lawman, and his main mission is to hunt down Jack Dawkins. He also becomes a rival for Lady Belle’s affection, creating a tense love triangle.
Two other actors join in key roles. Jeremy Sims will play Uncle Dickie, and Zac Burgess takes on the role of Phineas Golden. Official details about these characters are still under wraps, but they are part of the new energy coming to the show.
Returning Favorites from the Governor’s Mansion and Beyond
A large group of fan-favorite supporting actors are returning for the new season.
The Fox family is back in full force. Susie Porter returns as the formidable Lady Jane Fox, Belle’s mother, and Damien Garvey is back as Governor Edmund Fox. Lucy-Rose Leonard also returns as Lady Fanny Fox, Belle’s sister.
The show’s memorable villains and rivals are back as well. Tim Minchin returns as the devious harbormaster Darius Cracksworth. Nicholas Burton is back as Jack’s surgical rival, Dr. Sneed, and Kim Gyngell returns as the alcoholic chief surgeon, The Prof.
The staff at the hospital and the local tavern also return. Luke Carroll and Vivienne Awosoga are back as hospital assistant Tim Billiberllary and head nurse Hetty Baggett, respectively. Brigid Zengeni returns as tavern owner Rosemary ‘Rotty’ Falkirk, and Aljin Abella and Albert Latailakepa return as members of Fagin’s crew.
Kylie Watson-Wheeler of The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand said: โWeโre excited our fan-favourite Aussie Original is back for a second season. It has more romance, adventure and razor-sharp wit, plus several new faces.โ
What to Expect in Season Two’s Story
The new season picks up with Jack Dawkins in serious peril. He is a wanted man, hunted by the determined new Inspector, Henry Boxer. The official plot states that if Jack sees the woman he loves, Lady Belle, he will be hanged.
Meanwhile, Lady Belle continues to defy the expectations of 1850s society by pursuing her dream of becoming a surgeon. Her ambition puts her in new dangers. Complicating matters, Inspector Boxer is not only hunting Jack but is also competing with him for Belle’s attention.
As always, Fagin is scheming in the background, drawing Jack into a massive new criminal plot that promises to be their biggest challenge yet. The season also teases that a killer is on the loose in Port Victory, adding another layer of mystery and danger.
The production promises bigger scope, with new locations and more detailed sets and costumes. The season was filmed in Sydney, Australia, and is a co-production between Disney+ and Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures.
