The final season of Prime Video‘s hit series The Boys is almost here, and the cast is giving fans plenty to think about before the show ends. Valorie Curry, who plays the loud and loyal Firecracker, recently shared new details about what makes Homelander (Antony Starr) so easy to beat, even with all his power. Her words point to a simple truth: the world’s strongest supe has a mind that is easy to trick.

With The Boys Season 5 coming out on April 8, 2026, Curry’s explanation of her character and her boss gives a clear look at how the final fight might happen. She does not think Homelander is a smart planner. Instead, she sees him as a creature of pure feeling and reaction. This idea could be the key to finally bringing him down.

The Actor Says Homelander Runs on Instinct, Not Strategy

In a recent talk with ScreenRant, Valorie Curry was asked about Firecracker’s place in Homelander’s team. Many fans see Firecracker as just a tool for the villain. But Curry does not agree that Homelander is playing chess with everyone around him.

“I don’t think anyone is Homelander’s pawn. He doesn’t play chess. He thinks he’s playing chess, but he’s not playing chess. He’s all instinct, all reaction.” – Valorie Curry

Curry explained that Homelander’s weakness is his lack of a long-term plan. He does not think about what will happen tomorrow. He only knows what he wants right now. For someone like Firecracker, this is a dangerous place to be. Curry added that her character only understood at the end of Season 4 that she was a tool.

“This version of getting close to power is not actually power,” Curry said. “It’s actually the most dangerous place she could be.” This shows that working for Homelander is a trap. His followers think they are safe, but they are just standing next to an explosion waiting to happen.

Firecracker’s Fear Mixes with a Twisted Loyalty

Valorie Curry also talked about the strange feelings Firecracker has for Homelander. It is not just fear. There is a real, though very wrong, sense of love and commitment there. This mix of emotions makes Firecracker one of the most unpredictable characters in The Boys Season 5.

“Her fear of him lives right alongside an affection and a devotion that is very real to her,” Curry shared. This inner battle is what drives Firecracker. She has to ask herself if she can accept being used. Or does she want something more? As the final season plays out, this question will likely force Firecracker to make a big choice.

If Homelander only thinks about the present, he might not see a betrayal coming from someone he thinks is loyal. Firecracker has seen how he treats people. If she feels he does not value her, she could turn against him when he least expects it.

How This Weakness Changes the Final Season

The idea that Homelander lacks strategy is a big deal for the show’s ending. He is the strongest supe in the world. He can laser almost anyone. But Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and The Boys have never tried to beat him in a fair fight. They use tricks and lies.

Now, with The Boys Season 5 set to release on Prime Video on April 8, fans know the stakes are higher than ever. The season will drop its first three episodes on that date, with new episodes coming weekly until May 20, 2026. Eric Kripke, the show’s creator, has said that no one is safe. This means Homelander could finally face the results of his bad choices.

Because Homelander does not think ahead, he is easy to surprise. The Boys can set traps. They can use his ego against him. Valorie Curry‘s comments confirm what the show has shown for years: Homelander is a child in a god’s body. He breaks things when he is angry. He does not build anything. In the final season, his lack of patience will likely be his end.
