The suburban mystery is returning, this time for a longer stay. Peacock’s new series The ‘Burbs, a fresh adaptation of the 1989 cult film, will premiere all eight episodes on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The show, starring and executive produced by Keke Palmer, updates the story of neighborhood paranoia for a modern audience, blending comedy with dark secrets.
What Is The New ‘Burbs Series About?
Inspired by the original Tom Hanks film, the series moves the action to present-day suburbia. The story follows a young couple, Samira (Keke Palmer) and Rob (Jack Whitehall), who have reluctantly moved into Rob’s childhood home. They expect a quiet life, but their world is shaken when a mysterious new neighbor moves in across the street.
This event acts as a catalyst, bringing long-hidden secrets of the cul-de-sac to the surface and introducing new dangers that break the illusion of their peaceful neighborhood. The official description calls the series a “comedic mystery/thriller” that unfolds across the lawns of seemingly perfect suburbia.
