After a successful run in theaters, Marvel’s First Family is ready to welcome you home. The Fantastic Four: First Steps has its official streaming debut date on Disney+, giving everyone a chance to experience the hit retro-futuristic adventure.

The film will begin streaming on Disney+ on November 5, 2025. This comes roughly 100 days after it first launched in theaters on July 25, 2025.

The Story of Marvel’s First Family

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is not another story about how the team got their powers. Instead, it introduces them at the height of their fame in an alternate 1960s. The film follows Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing) as they balance their family life with their roles as celebrated heroes.

Their world is threatened when a powerful herald, the Silver Surfer, arrives on Earth. She serves Galactus, a ravenous space god who plans to consume the entire planet. The team must journey into the cosmos to confront this danger, a mission that becomes deeply personal and tests the very bonds that make them a family.

Director Matt Shakman, who previously directed the Disney+ series WandaVision, built a unique world for this film. He described it as a “whole new universe,” a 1960s unlike our own, advanced by Reed Richards’s genius inventions.

“It feels like the โ€˜60s, but it has this layer of retro-futuristic tech on top of it,” Shakman explained about the film’s setting, known as Earth-828.

A New Take on Classic Characters

This MCU reboot presents fresh interpretations of the iconic team, brought to life by a star-studded cast. Pedro Pascal plays the brilliant leader, Reed Richards. Shakman described Reed as a combination of Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, and Robert Moses, calling him “the most scientifically intelligent person” on the planet.

Vanessa Kirby stars as Sue Storm, whom the director labeled “the most emotionally intelligent person.” Kirby focused on Sue’s role as a mother and incorporated elements from different comic portrayals to ensure the character was not just a “stereotype of a goody, sweet mother.”

Joseph Quinn takes on the role of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch. Quinn and producer Kevin Feige decided to modernize the character, moving away from his womanizing reputation in earlier films to make him more self-aware while keeping his signature humor and bravado.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays the ever-loyal Ben Grimm, The Thing. The actor performs the role through motion capture, similar to how Mark Ruffalo portrays the Hulk in the MCU, to bring the rocky hero to life.

Box Office Success and Critical Reception

During its theatrical run, The Fantastic Four: First Steps proved to be a major success. The film grossed $521.8 million globally, making it the tenth-highest-grossing film of 2025 and the highest-grossing Fantastic Four film to date. It had the strongest opening weekend for a Marvel film in 2025.

Critics responded positively, with the movie currently holding a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It has been called the highest-rated film adaptation of Marvel’s First Family. Reviewers praised its unique style, with one noting it was “the best by far of the companyโ€™s attempts to translate the long-running comic bookโ€™s appeal to the big screen,” highlighting its “smart script” and “moving performances.”

How to Watch on Disney+

Subscribers in the United States will be able to stream the movie starting at 12 a.m. PT (3 a.m. ET) on November 5. Viewers in the UK can access it from 8 a.m. GMT on the same day. The version coming to Disney+ will be IMAX Enhanced, offering an expanded aspect ratio and special sound for subscribers with compatible devices.

This streaming debut follows the film’s earlier digital release for purchase on platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV in September. For those without a subscription, Disney+ offers several plans. The service recently updated its pricing, with the ad-supported plan now at $12 per month and the ad-free Premium plan at $19 per month or $190 per year.

The film includes both a mid-credits and a post-credits scene, so viewers will want to watch until the very end. The characters are expected to return in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie.
