The next case for Mickey Haller is his own. Netflix has announced that the fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer will begin on Thursday, February 5, 2026. All ten episodes of the new season will be available on that date. The season is based on the sixth book in Michael Connelly’s series, The Law of Innocence, and picks up directly from the shocking finale of Season 3.

The new season also introduces several high-profile guest stars to the courtroom drama. Actors Cobie Smulders, Sasha Alexander, and Constance Zimmer are joining the cast in major roles. They will be part of the biggest challenge defense attorney Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, has ever faced: proving he did not kill a client.

What Happened at the End of Season 3?

Season 3 ended with a major cliffhanger. After winning a difficult case, Mickey Haller was pulled over by police while driving his signature Lincoln. Officers opened the trunk and discovered the body of his former client, a con man named Sam Scales. Mickey was immediately arrested.

Sam Scales was a character from earlier seasons who owed Mickey money and had been repeatedly arrested. The discovery of his body in Mickey’s car sets the stage for the entire fourth season.

The Plot: Mickey Haller Fights for His Life

For the first time, the brilliant defense attorney is on the other side of the law. The official story description states:

โ€œMickey Haller faces his toughest case yet as he and his team work tirelessly to prove his innocence in the murder of a former client, Sam Scales. To clear his name, they must unravel Samโ€™s final scam, forcing them to go head-to-head with the DAโ€™s office, the FBI, and ghosts from Mickeyโ€™s own past.โ€

The co-showrunners of the series, Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, explained the unique pressure of this story. In a statement, they said:

โ€œThe stakes have never been higher, because this time Mickey is the client. With his very life and reputation on the line, heโ€™ll need the strength and support of his entire team, and his entire family, to fight for his future.โ€

They also promised the new season would be “the biggest roller coaster weโ€™ve ever taken our audience on”.

Meet the New Characters and Guest Stars

A major part of the first-look announcement is the reveal of new actors joining the show. They will play friends and foes for Mickey and his team.

Constance Zimmer joins in a major 10-episode story arc as Dana Berg, a prosecutor. She is a former colleague of Mickey’s ex-wife, Maggie McPherson (Neve Campbell), from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office. Nicknamed โ€œDeath Row Dana,โ€ she is known as a relentless and ruthless lawyer who will be Mickey’s main opponent in the courtroom.

Sasha Alexander will play FBI Agent Dawn Ruth. Described as no-nonsense and intimidating, she and her colleagues confront Mickey to pressure him to stop his own investigation.

Cobie Smulders is also joining the cast, though details about her character are being kept secret for now. Fans know Smulders from How I Met Your Mother and as Maria Hill in the Marvel films.

Other new faces include:

  • Kyle Richards as Celeste Baker, a Beverly Hills socialite who hires Lorna (Becki Newton) for a divorce.
  • Jason O’Mara as Jack Gilroy, an orthopedic surgeon who is the new boyfriend of Maggie McPherson.
  • Scott Lawrence as Judge Stone, a former prosecutor known for his tough attitude.

The Returning Cast and Crew

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns as the lead, Mickey Haller. He will be supported by his full team from previous seasons.

  • Neve Campbell as Maggie McPherson, Mickey’s first ex-wife and a prosecutor. It has been confirmed she will appear in every episode of Season 4.
  • Becki Newton as Lorna Crane, Mickey’s second ex-wife and his legal aide.

  • Angus Sampson as Cisco, Mickey’s investigator.
