A new Yellowstone series is getting a rare vote of confidence from Paramount+. The Madison, a spinoff led by Michelle Pfeiffer, has reportedly been renewed for a second season before a single episode of the first season has aired. Filming for the sophomore season has already started, signaling the streaming service’s strong belief in the show and its creator, Taylor Sheridan.
Why The Madison Got an Early Season 2 Renewal
The decision to renew a show before its premiere is not common in television. For The Madison, it points directly to the powerful track record of its creator. At a recent press event, Paramount executives made it clear that Taylor Sheridan’s work is central to their streaming strategy.
Cindy Holland, Paramountโs Chair of Direct-to-Consumer, called Sheridan’s collection of shows “a really great foundation”. Paramount CEO David Ellison went further, praising Sheridan as โa singular genius with a perfect track recordโ. The Yellowstone franchise, which includes the main series and prequels like 1883 and 1923, has been a major success for Paramount+. The early renewal for The Madison shows the company expects this new series to continue that trend.
Production on Season 1 of The Madison finished in December 2024. Remarkably, cameras for Season 2 began rolling in Dallas, Texas, in late 2025. Local reports confirm that a section of downtown Dallas was closed for filming, with NYPD cars and yellow taxis used to transform the area into New York City for the show. This advanced production schedule is a physical sign of Paramount’s commitment.
What The Madison Is About
The series shifts focus from the Dutton family to a new group of characters. It follows Stacy Clyburn, played by Michelle Pfeiffer, a wealthy matriarch from New York City. After her husband and brother-in-law die in a plane crash, she moves her family to the Madison River valley in Montana.
The official description calls the show โa study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in central Montanaโ. While it exists in the Yellowstone universe, the connection to the Duttons is through the shared Montana landscape, not direct storylines. Director Christina Voros explained that the show shares the “scope of landscape” but views it through “a completely different lens”.
The Star-Studded Cast Led by Michelle Pfeiffer
Beyond Michelle Pfeiffer, the series features a notable cast. Matthew Fox plays Paul, described as a self-sufficient outdoorsman who meets Stacy in Montana.
Patrick J. Adams, known from Suits, plays Russell McIntosh, the investment banker husband of Stacy’s daughter, Paige. Paige is played by Elle Chapman. Another of Stacy’s daughters, Abigail Reese, is played by Beau Garrett.
The cast also includes Amiah Miller, Danielle Vasinova, and Ben Schnetzer. In a significant update from September 2025, it was confirmed that Hollywood veteran Kurt Russell has joined the project. Reports suggest his involvement is likely for the show’s second season.

When Can You Watch The Madison?
A specific premiere date for the first season has not been announced. Multiple sources indicate it is scheduled to arrive in late 2025 or early 2026 on Paramount+.
This early renewal for The Madison is part of a larger pattern for Taylor Sheridan’s shows at Paramount+. Alongside this news, it was reported that another Sheridan series, Special Ops: Lioness, has been renewed for a third season. Sheridan’s overall deal with Paramount runs until 2028, and CEO David Ellison has indicated interest in extending that relationship even further.
