The return of Tom Hiddleston as spy Jonathan Pine was one of the big television events to start 2026. The first episode of The Night Manager Season 2 aired, setting up a dangerous new mission that will continue this weekend. Here is everything you need to know about the next chapter, including exactly when and where you can watch Episode 2.
When and Where to Watch Episode 2
The Night Manager Season 2 Episode 2 will be released on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
In the United Kingdom, the episode will air on BBC One at 9:00 PM GMT. It will also be available to stream live and on-demand through BBC iPlayer, which is a free service for UK viewers with a valid TV license.
For viewers in the rest of the world, including the United States, Canada, and Australia, the new season is an exclusive title on Prime Video. However, the global release schedule is different. The entire six-episode season, including Episode 2, will become available on Prime Video starting Sunday, January 11, 2026.
This means UK audiences get to see the new episodes a week earlier than everyone else.
What to Expect in Episode 2: “Matthew Ellis”
The second episode is titled “Matthew Ellis,” which is the new alias adopted by Jonathan Pine. After the events of the premiere, Pine is on the run and must fully commit to this fresh identity.
His mission takes him to Colombia, where his goal is to infiltrate the inner circle of the new antagonist, Teddy Dos Santos, a Colombian businessman and arms dealer played by Diego Calva. Pine, as Matthew Ellis, aims to uncover the secrets behind a mysterious arms shipment in Cartagena.
The synopsis from the BBC states: “Pine is on the run and using a new identity. Under the name Matthew Ellis, he travels to Colombia to get inside Teddy dos Santosโs operation and uncover the mystery of the Cartagena shipment.”
The episode will see Pine working with new ally Sally, played by Hayley Squires, and a returning Basil, played by Paul Chahidi, to solidify his cover. He will also deepen his risky association with Roxana Bolaรฑos, a businesswoman tied to Teddy’s world, played by Camila Morrone.
