The hit medical drama The Pitt is welcoming four new recurring actors for its second season on HBO Max. Brittany Allen, Bonita Friedericy, Taylor Handley, and Jeff Kober are joining the show. Their characters will arrive at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center during a tense Fourth of July weekend, ten months after the events of the first season ended.

The showโ€™s second season is set to start on January 8, 2026. Fans can catch up on the entire first season on cable television this month, as all episodes will air on TNT starting December 1.

Meet The New Characters Joining the Emergency Room

The four new cast members will play patients and visitors who bring new stories into the busy hospital.

  • Brittany Allen is playing Roxie Hamler, a patient in the Emergency Department. Allen is known for her roles in The Boys and Dexter: Original Sin.
  • Taylor Handley will play Paul Hamler, the husband of a patient. Handley has recently appeared in Mayor of Kingstown and Griselda.
  • Bonita Friedericy is cast as Cora Wilkins, a woman visiting a patient. Her previous TV work includes A Friend of the Family and Chicago Med.
  • Jeff Kober will play Duke, a motorcycle engineer who has a long history with one of the hospital’s doctors. Kober is recognized for roles in The Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy.

These guest roles are in addition to other new faces joining the staff. Sepideh Moafi has been cast as a new attending physician, Dr. Al-Hashimi, whose modern methods are expected to clash with Dr. Robbyโ€™s traditional style. Other recurring roles for the season include Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Laรซtitia Hollard, and Lucas Iverson.

What to Expect When The Pitt Returns in January

Season 2 will premiere on HBO Max on January 8, 2026. The first two episodes will be available immediately, with the remaining 13 episodes of the 15-episode season releasing weekly.

The story picks up ten months after the first season finale. The entire season will cover a single, high-pressure 15-hour shift set over the Fourth of July weekend. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill explained that the holiday setting and time jump were specifically chosen to accommodate the return of Dr. Frank Langdon, played by Patrick Ball, after his treatment for drug addiction.

“It was really driven by wanting to have the Langdon character back and knowing how much time he would’ve had to spend in rehabโ€ฆ We knew it had to be about 10 months, [which] took us into the summer,” Gemmill told Entertainment Weekly.

The holiday weekend promises a flood of emergency cases related to celebrations, while Dr. Langdon’s first day back adds a major personal storyline for the medical team. The season will also continue to follow Noah Wyle’s Dr. Robby as he deals with the aftermath of his emotional breakdown at the end of last season.

How to Watch Season 1 Before the New Episodes Arrive

For viewers who want to watch or re-watch the first season, a special event is happening in December. The entire 15-episode first season of The Pitt will air on TNT cable channel.

The episodes will air over five weeks, starting Monday, December 1, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET. Each Monday night, TNT will show three episodes in a row, concluding on December 29. The network has confirmed it will broadcast the series exactly as it first appeared on HBO Max, without cutting any graphic medical scenes.

The Pitt quickly became a standout hit after its debut, winning several awards at the 2025 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. The show is produced by John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
