The Story Behind the Scenes
The Price of Confession follows An Yoon Soo, an art teacher whose husband is found dead, making her the prime suspect. In prison, she meets the mysterious Mo Eun, who offers a dangerous deal: Mo Eun will confess to the murder if Yoon Soo agrees to kill someone for her. The series explores the bloody bond that forms between these two women.
Director Lee Jung-hyo, known for Crash Landing on You, said making the show was like “producing 12 independent thrillers,” focusing on keeping tension high throughout all episodes. He paid close attention to visual elements, like the confession room set, to build intrigue.
“While she outwardly looks bright and freeโฆ she is also an orphan with a deep desire to fill an emptiness. There is an underlying darkness to her,” said actress Jeon Do-yeon about her character Yoon Soo.
“I wanted Mo Eun to be unreadable, someone whose thoughts remain mysterious. But at the same time I also wanted glimpses of her fragility to come through,” said Kim Go-eun about playing Mo Eun.
The series, which premiered on Netflix on December 5, 2025, also stars Park Hae-soo as a determined prosecutor and Jin Sun-kyu as a lawyer. The show quickly found a global audience, rising to high spots on Netflix’s non-English TV charts after its debut.
