Netflix’s upcoming South Korean drama The Trunk, starring Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin, has released new stills showcasing the intricacies of its characters’ relationships. The stills highlight the growing bond between the leads, set against the backdrop of contract marriages and hidden secrets.

Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun Jin’s Developing Romance

In the newly released images, Gong Yoo portrays Han Jeong Won, and Seo Hyun Jin plays Noh In Ji, as their characters begin to form a genuine connection despite the nature of their contract marriage. The stills reveal moments of tenderness, with the two appearing as though they are a real couple. The production team has hinted that while their personalities differ, their mutual longing for love might bridge the gap between them.

Lee Seo Yeon and Yoon Ji Oh Add Mystery

The drama also introduces another intriguing duo: Lee Seo Yeon (played by Jung Yun Ha) and Yoon Ji Oh (played by Jo Yi Geon). These characters add layers of tension and complexity to the storyline.

The production team described Lee Seo Yeon as being driven by her “twisted desires.” Despite divorcing Han Jeong Won, she enters into a contract marriage with Yoon Ji Oh. Meanwhile, Yoon Ji Oh continues to love her despite knowing all her secrets, adding mystery to their relationship.

Tensions Rise in Shared Scenes

A set of stills reveals a particularly intense moment featuring all four main characters—Han Jeong Won, Noh In Ji, Lee Seo Yeon, and Yoon Ji Oh—seated together at a table. The scene is filled with palpable tension, with Lee Seo Yeon provocatively wiping her ex-husband Han Jeong Won’s mouth in front of both Noh In Ji and her current husband, Yoon Ji Oh. This provocative action underscores the complicated relationships and conflicting motivations of the characters, amplifying curiosity about the drama’s unfolding secrets.

Adaptation and Premiere Details

Based on the novel Trunk by Kim Ryeo Ryeong, the series delves into the concept of contract marriages. Noh In Ji works for NM, a company specializing in providing spouses for one-year fixed-term contract marriages. Having completed her fourth contract, she is matched with Han Jeong Won, a music producer burdened by pain and loneliness.

Directed by Kim Kyu Tae and written by Park Eun Young, The Trunk is set to premiere on November 29, 2024, exclusively on Netflix.
