The final season of The Upshaws has an official premiere date. Netflix confirmed Part 7, the show’s last season, will launch in full on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Along with the date announcement, the streaming service released a new teaser trailer, giving fans a first look at the Upshaw family’s farewell season.

This final chapter consists of 12 all-new episodes, marking the end of the popular sitcom’s run. The show follows a working-class Black family in Indianapolis as they navigate life’s daily challenges and joys.
What the Final Season Teaser Shows
The newly released trailer offers a mix of humor and emotion, setting the stage for the series’ conclusion. It features clips of the cast during an emotional final table read, blending behind-the-scenes moments with scenes from the new season.
While specific plot details are under wraps, the show’s creators have hinted at major transitions for the family. Wanda Sykes, who co-creates the show and stars as Lucretia, mentioned that her character reaches a point where she must prioritize her own desires. Sykes told Variety, “With Lucretia, we wanted her to put herself first. Her whole thing had been taking care of her sister [Regina] and making sure the family was OK. It was nice getting her to a place where she had to make a decision about ‘This is something I really want for myself’”.
The season will continue to explore the dynamics within the Upshaw household, led by well-intentioned mechanic Bennie (Mike Epps) and his wife, Regina (Kim Fields), who serves as the family’s anchor.
