Fans of The Witcher have a major date to mark on their calendars. Netflix has announced that the show’s fourth season will premiere on October 30, 2025, launching a new chapter for the monster hunter with a new face in the lead role. The streaming service has also released the official episode titles and key art, offering clues about the high-stakes journey ahead for Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer.

This season introduces Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, taking over the role from Henry Cavill. The new season will adapt the next set of novels in Andrzej Sapkowski’s series, moving the story toward its epic conclusion.

The Complete Episode List for Season 4

Netflix has confirmed that the fourth season will consist of eight episodes, all of which will be released at once on October 30. This allows viewers to binge the entire season in one sitting. The episode titles, which often hint at key story moments, are as follows:

  • Episode 401: “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger”
  • Episode 402: “Dream of a Wish Fulfilled”
  • Episode 403: “Trial by Ordeal”
  • Episode 404: “A Sermon of Survival”
  • Episode 405: “The Joy of Cooking”
  • Episode 406: “Twilight of the Wolf”
  • Episode 407: “What I Love I Do Not Carry”
  • Episode 408: “Baptism of Fire”

The titles suggest a season focused on endurance, difficult tests, and transformation. The finale’s title, “Baptism of Fire,” is the same as the fifth book in the Witcher series, confirming the show will continue to follow the source material closely.

A New Hero for a New Chapter

The most significant change in Season 4 is the recasting of the main character. Liam Hemsworth is now playing Geralt of Rivia. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich explained that the change was a collaborative decision, noting that Henry Cavill had other professional commitments.

“He had plans for other roles that he really wanted to commit himself to. And for us, you don’t want to hold someone and force them to be doing something that they don’t want to do. I think that’s why it felt like a really symbiotic decision,” Hissrich told Entertainment Weekly.

According to co-stars and the creative team, Hemsworth’s portrayal will bring a different dimension to the character. Laurence Fishburne, who joins the cast this season, praised Hemsworth’s confidence and performance. Joey Batey, who plays Jaskier, said the new Geralt quickly “became our brother.”

Hissrich added that the story itself allows for this new interpretation, putting Geralt in more emotionally vulnerable situations than before.

“The stories lent themselves to this change, because Geralt is also going through something he’s never gone through before. So he’s able to access these different emotional, more vulnerable places than we’ve not seen,” Hissrich said.

Where the Story Goes After Season 3’s Cliffhanger

Season 4 picks up after the explosive and devastating events of the Season 3 finale. Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri have been torn apart and must navigate a war-torn Continent separately.

Geralt’s path will see him finally choosing a side in the political conflict, driven solely by his desire to find Ciri and Yennefer. He will be joined by a new group of allies, forming the “Hanza,” which includes Jaskier and the archer Milva. A key new ally will be the character Regis, a world-wise barber-surgeon played by Laurence Fishburne.

Ciri is now on her own, having joined a band of teenage misfits known as the Rats. She has also taken on a new identity, calling herself Falka. A major question for the new season is the status of her powerful abilities, which she may have relinquished during her ordeal in the Korath Desert.

Meanwhile, Yennefer is stepping into a new leadership role at Aretuza, following the death of her mentor Tissaia. She will have to decide how to guide the continent’s sorceresses in the wake of Vilgefortz’s shocking betrayal.

A Look Ahead for the Series

Production on The Witcher is nearing its end. Seasons 4 and 5 were filmed back-to-back to ensure a consistent narrative and a satisfying conclusion to the series. Season 5 has been confirmed as the final season, which will complete the adaptation of Sapkowski’s books, including Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
