The second and final season of the animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will premiere on December 11, 2025, on Netflix. This season concludes the story of Lara Croft that began in the 2024 animated show, which is set after the events of the Shadow of the Tomb Raider video game. The new season will follow Lara on a global adventure centered on powerful African artifacts.

Hayley Atwell returns to voice the iconic adventurer, with Karen Fukuhara joining as a key partner in the mission. The series is produced by Legendary Television with animation handled by Powerhouse Animation.

Final Season Story Details and New Adventure

The final season’s plot involves adventurer Lara Croft discovering a trail of stolen African Orisha masks. She joins forces with her best friend Sam Nishimura to retrieve these precious artifacts. Their mission takes them around the world as they explore the hidden history of the Orisha.

They must also avoid the plans of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself. Lara will discover that these relics hold dark secrets and a power that defies logic, a power that may in fact be divine. The story will see Lara face super-powered enemies who have gained supernatural abilities from these relics, and she must find a way to stop them before they cause worldwide destruction.

Showrunner Tasha Huo discussed Lara’s character growth, stating that the first season was about Lara being isolated. She said, โ€œAs we get into Season 2, we’re trying to build Lara’s team over the course of the show, so she goes from isolated hero, who only wants to do things on her own โ€” a lone wolf โ€” to realizing, ‘Actually, I have this really cool team behind me.’โ€ This season will focus on Lara learning to rely on her friends and allies.

Returning and New Voice Cast Members

The voice cast for the final season includes many returning actors from the first season, alongside a key addition.

  • Hayley Atwell once again provides the voice for Lara Croft, the titular treasure hunter.
  • Earl Baylon returns as Jonah Maiava, Lara’s steadfast and trusted friend.
  • Allen Maldonado is back as Zip, the tech expert who provides mission support.
  • Karen Fukuhara joins the cast as Sam Nishimura, Lara’s best friend who becomes her main partner this season. Fukuhara is known for her roles in The Boys and Suicide Squad.
  • Other returning cast members include Richard Armitage as Charles, Zoe Boyle as Camilla Roth, Nolan North as Conrad Roth, and Ming-Na Wen as Eva Tong.
  • O-T Fagbenle will voice a new character named Eshu.

Behind the Scenes and Series Conclusion

Tasha Huo returns as the showrunner and executive producer for the series. The animation is provided by Powerhouse Animation Studios, the studio known for its work on Castlevania and Skull Island. Legendary Television produces the series alongside Crystal Dynamics, the developer of the Tomb Raider video games.

Netflix has confirmed that this two-season order will be the complete story for this particular animated adaptation. The final season will aim to provide closure to Lara’s story arcs while keeping the door open for future adventures in other forms. The production team has stated they worked to respectfully handle the cultures that inspire the Orisha myths central to this season’s plot.
