The hit CBS show Tracker delivered another intense episode on Sunday, March 22, 2026, bringing together a reunion of former Smallville stars while sending Colter Shaw into the dangerous world of Hollywood stunt work. Episode 13, titled “Breakaway,” took viewers to Detroit, where a veteran stuntman’s disappearance uncovered a much larger criminal operation involving rogue stunt performers and a planned armored car robbery.

Justin Hartley, who plays the lone-wolf rewardist, found himself investigating a case that hit close to home for his character’s tech expert, Randy, played by Chris Lee. Randy, a self-proclaimed fan of stunt work, took a personal interest in finding the missing Hale “Rip” Ripley, whose girlfriend Laura reached out to Colter after her partner vanished without a trace.

A Missing Stuntman Leads to Dark Secrets

The episode opened with Laura, portrayed by Erica Durance, meeting Colter to explain that her boyfriend Hale (David Ramsey) had disappeared after storming off a low-budget film set. Laura, also a stunt performer, told Colter that Hale had been complaining about unsafe working conditions and production corners being cut. She couldn’t access the set and suspected the producers were hiding something.

Colter made his way onto the set, where he immediately found trouble. Inside the stunt trailer, he discovered a young woman who appeared uncomfortable while a stunt worker had lines of cocaine laid out. After Colter confronted the man, the stunt coordinator Jake Harris (Jacob Turner) fired him on the spot. Jake mentioned that Hale had been acting distracted and checking his phone constantly before telling Jake he planned to speak with the producer.

Randy dug into the background of producer Bennett Cranston (Carlo Rota) and found a lengthy criminal record involving racketeering and mob connections. When Colter visited Cranston’s hotel room, he found signs of a struggle. Security footage showed Hale knocking on the door, followed by Cranston and two men dragging Hale down the hallway minutes later.

A Father’s Desperate Move to Save His Son

The investigation took an unexpected turn when Colter tracked down Hale’s prized Dodge Charger at an illegal street race track. The car had been sold, but the new owner revealed that Hale had recently raced there himself, winning $25,000 in just three races. Randy discovered that Hale’s son Dalton (Lovell Adams-Gray) was deeply in debt and that Hale had been secretly sending him money.

What Colter uncovered next revealed the true nature of the case. Dalton, also a stunt performer, had gotten involved with a crew of stuntmen with criminal records led by Virgil Dean, played by professional wrestler Chris Jericho. Hale had tried to pay off his son’s debt by handing over a bag of cash to Virgil, but the criminal demanded Dalton complete one more job as the getaway driver for an armored car heist.

Hale made the difficult choice to take his son’s place.

“Hale blames Virgil for whatever problem Dalton’s having and warns him to never bother his son again. Virgil says it’s too late and that he can’t let Dalton out of the deal.”

The Explosive Final Confrontation

With help from Laura, Colter tracked the crew to an abandoned warehouse where they found Dalton tied up. The young man explained that Virgil had forced him into the heist and that his father had stepped in to protect him. Colter agreed to let Dalton help intercept the crew before they could hit the armored truck.

The final sequence played out on a remote road where Virgil’s crew, with Hale driving the Charger, blocked an armored vehicle. Colter watched from a distance as the criminals grabbed the guards and began loading cash. When Dalton tried to help, his injured leg gave out, drawing gunfire from Virgil’s men.

What followed became a full-scale shootout. Colter took out multiple crew members while Laura arrived on her motorcycle, deliberately running into one of the armed men to provide cover. With Virgil holding Hale at gunpoint, Colter made the shot that brought down the criminal leader, freeing Hale and ending the heist.

“The following day Hale apologizes to Colter for dragging him into this and confesses he probably should have gone to the cops. He just wanted to protect his son.”

A Smallville Reunion and Wrestling Connection

The casting for “Breakaway” created excitement among fans of both television and professional wrestling. David Ramsey and Erica Durance, who played John Diggle and Lois Lane on Smallville and in the Arrowverse, reunited with Hartley, who played Oliver Queen on the same show.

Adding to the episode’s appeal, professional wrestling legend Chris Jericho played the villain Virgil Dean. Jericho, known for his long career in WWE and AEW, brought his screen presence to the role of a stuntman-turned-criminal. The episode marked a notable crossover between the wrestling and television worlds.

The guest cast also included Kathleen Robertson as Maxine, a lawyer friend of Reenie’s who opened up about personal trauma during dinner with Reenie Greene (Fiona Rene). The subplot hinted at Reenie’s continued struggle with past trauma while she reluctantly works on Miranda’s case.

What Happened in the Episode

Viewers saw Colter accept the $12,000 reward from Laura at the episode’s end, though he told her it wasn’t necessary. Hale got his Dodge Charger back after promising driving lessons to the man who bought it, and he decided to take time off to spend with Dalton. The father and son, who had been estranged, began rebuilding their relationship after Hale’s sacrifice to save him.

For Reenie, the episode showed her opening up about her trauma to Maxine, though it remained clear she still needs support. The storyline continues to develop her character beyond her role as Colter’s legal advisor.

Randy once again proved essential to the case, using his tech skills to track down the producer’s location and identify the criminal crew. His personal interest in stunt work added depth to his involvement in finding Hale.
