The hit CBS drama Tracker continues its third season with a special Halloween-themed episode. Tracker Season 3 Episode 3, titled “First Fire,” arrives in November 2025, plunging Colter Shaw into a spooky holiday investigation.
Following the intense two-part season premiere that saw Colter and his brother Russell dismantle a sinister operation, this new episode shifts to a self-contained, festive mystery. The show, which stars Justin Hartley as survivalist and reward seeker Colter Shaw, was the most-watched scripted series on television last season.
What to Expect in the Halloween Episode
Episode 3, “First Fire,” presents a chilling case set on Halloween night. The official synopsis reveals that a nurse is murdered and a dangerous arsonist named Heston Koontz escapes from a psychiatric facility. Colter must follow a trail of unsettling clues to uncover the truth, with assistance from a local officer named Dundee.
This episode marks a change of pace for the series, grounding a terrifying scenario in the already chaotic atmosphere of Halloween. With children trick-or-treating and the streets filled with costumed people, Colter must race against time to find a deranged killer on the loose. Fans can expect nail-biting suspense and a departure from the show’s usual family-centric storyline.

- Brent Sexton as Keaton
- Chris Lee as Randy
Abby McEnany (Velma) and Eric Graise (Bobby) are no longer series regulars for Season 3. While Jensen Ackles returns as Colter’s brother, Russell, for the two-part premiere, it is not confirmed if he appears in this Halloween-themed episode.
A Look Back at the Season So Far
Season 3 premiered on October 19, 2025, with a two-part story that directly continued from the explosive Season 2 finale. Colter was grappling with the revelation that his mother, Mary Dove, was involved in his father’s death and had let him believe his brother Russell was responsible.
The premiere episodes, “The Process” and “Leverage,” saw the Shaw brothers reunite to take down a blackmailing operation called “The Process.” Their successful partnership concluded with Russell expressing a desire to use his skills to help people, much like Colter does, sparking online discussion about a potential spin-off.
Showrunner Elwood Reid has been open about his interest in a Russell Shaw spin-off. He mentioned teasing the possibility in the premiere episodes, stating:
โI just threw [spin-off hints] in there, hoping fans do some work. We just threw in a bunch of teases in these two upcoming episodes. [Jensen and Justin Hartley] are so much fun together, and they weirdly complement each other.โ
The third season is set to have 22 episodes, the largest order for the series to date. The season will air continuously until a midseason finale later this winter, go on a brief hiatus, and then resume in early 2026, with the finale expected around May 2026.
