Netizens wonder if this was done by HYBE.
On July 15, K-pop idol group TWS released the official “Double Take” performance video and received much criticism online.
BIGBANG fans noticed that the melody and the video were similar to GD&TOP‘s “Knock Out” music video, which was released in 2010.
They noted the similarities in the music video angles, lyrics, and overall beat. They felt that if this wasn’t plagiarism, they wondered if there was a song that could be called plagiarized.
We know that this is not the members’ fault, so we weren’t going to make a video, but because it was too similar, I decided to make this video (Do not criticize the artists; if you want to criticize, please do so to the company that made the song).
However, netizens noticed that the only article posted about the news in the morning has since been deleted.
When pressing the article link, netizens were redirected to an error page that read, “We cannot connect to the Naver entertainment service.”
It was also revealed that Sports Kyunghang, the media outlet that published the news, is said to be the only news site that properly released an article regarding BTS’s sajaegi allegations.
Netizens were shocked at how fast the article was taken down and wondered how powerful HYBE really was.
- “But is HYBE really that powerful? Other celebrities’ malicious rumor articles can’t even be deleted.”
- “Right? Are news articles that easy to delete? How strong do they have to be to delete media?”
- “Shocked…”
- “They sometimes go directly to the media outlets…if they come directly, they probably have no choice but to delete it.”
- “I guess so…”
- “Wasn’t there a time when HYBE asked a media outlet to release an article for them? Or no?”
- “But HYBE just neglects other idols’ malicious articles alone when they are released.”
- “But if they keep deleting articles like that, it just makes the allegations grow even more…”
- “Or they could just release a statement if they are confident.”
- “Didn’t they say something about a media outlet that released a criticism article?”
- “It was Ilgan Sports.”
- “They neglect articles about their idols being criticized, yet they are so fast to delete articles criticizing the company.”
- “Seriously, I was so shocked..why are they so fast.”
- “Did HYBE go directly to the media outlet manager again?”
