Story Recap: What Happened in Episodes 5 and 6

The most recent episodes left the future of Typhoon Trading Company hanging in the balance. Kang Tae-poong, in a desperate move, took a dangerous loan from a gangster, Ryu Hui-gyu, to secure 7,000 pairs of safety shoes. He promised to pay 100 million won, with the terrifying condition of owing his “eyes” as collateral if he fails. Oh Mi-seon, the company’s dedicated bookkeeper, later discovers this secret deal and is furious and worried.

Tae-poong and his team managed to secure a major order from a Mexican company for 5,000 pairs of shoes. However, their triumph was short-lived. Their rival, Pyo Hyun-jun, sabotaged the deal by spreading false information, causing the shipping company to cancel their contract. With no way to deliver the order, Tae-poong’s dangerous debt and the company’s survival are at risk. The episode ended with Tae-poong getting an idea to use fishing trawlers for delivery after an argument with Mi-seon near a fish market, though their initial attempt to ask a captain for help ended with them being doused with seawater.

What to Expect in the Upcoming Episodes

Episodes 7 and 8 will directly continue from this cliffhanger. The central question is whether Tae-poong can successfully get the safety shoes to Mexico using his unconventional idea.

Despite the chaos, he’s not stopping. Tae-poong is already setting his sights on Thailand for their next shipment. Another cargo ship seems ready to sail soon, hinting that their export hustle is far from over.

The relationship between Tae-poong and Mi-seon will also develop further. After Mi-seon learned about his secret loan, tension is high between them. However, as they work together to solve the shipping crisis, their professional relationship is expected to deepen.

And somewhere between business deals and late-night apologies, Tae-poong appears to finally recognize his growing feelings for Mi-seon. Romance might just be sneaking in amid all the shipping drama.

Viewers can expect more challenges from the rival Pyo family, as Pyo Hyun-jun and his father continue their efforts to crush Typhoon Trading. The struggle will test Tae-poong’s ingenuity and determination like never before.

The Cast and Their Characters

The show stars Lee Jun-ho as the protagonist, Kang Tae-poong, a young man who must rapidly mature from a free-spirited heir into a responsible CEO. The role is a notable one for Lee Jun-ho, who is already known for his award-winning acting in The Red Sleeve and his role in King the Land. He is supported by Kim Min-ha, who plays Oh Mi-seon, the hardworking bookkeeper who becomes his most crucial ally. The cast also includes several other talented actors.

  • Kim Min-seok as Wang Nam-mo, Tae-poong’s loyal best friend.

The series is set against the backdrop of the 1997 IMF financial crisis, a period of great difficulty for South Korea. This historical setting adds a layer of realism and gravity to the personal and business struggles of the characters. The show has been praised for its careful recreation of the 1990s, from the props to the overall atmosphere, making the story both nostalgic and emotionally powerful.
