Fans can finally see the future for television’s favorite small-town couple. A new photo from Virgin River Season 7 shows Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan basking in their long-awaited newlywed joy, as Netflix officially announces the premiere date for the new season.
The streaming service confirmed the season will arrive on March 12, 2026. This first official look promises more romance and new challenges for the residents of the cozy Northern California town.
The Newlywed Phase Begins on the Farm
The released image gives fans their first glimpse of Mel and Jack after their dramatic Season 6 wedding. The couple appears happy and settled, but showrunner Patrick Sean Smith hints their new life will bring its own tests.
โI think weโve only just begun to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is exciting,โ Smith says. The new season will โexplore the honeymoon phase for them as theyโre building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles.โ
Smith emphasizes that while they will face issues, the core of their relationship is secure. โI canโt imagine creating a scenario where you think Mel and Jack are going to break up,โ he stated. The drama will instead focus on different kinds of relationship pressures now that the “will they, won’t they” question is answered.
New Faces Arrive in Virgin River
Season 7 will introduce two new characters to the town’s tight-knit community, bringing fresh stories and potential drama.
- Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) joins the cast as Victoria, a former police officer who was shot in the line of duty. She now works as an investigator for the state medical board and comes to Virgin River to look into Docโs medical practice. Her arrival isn’t purely professional, however, as she also hopes to reconnect with a friend from her past.
- Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) will play Clay, a tough and athletic man with experience on the rodeo circuit. He grew up in foster care and has been searching for his younger sister, whom he hasn’t seen since they were teenagers.
The full main cast is set to return, including Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel), Martin Henderson (Jack), Tim Matheson (Doc), and Annette OโToole (Hope).

Unfinished Business from Season 6
The new season will immediately address several cliffhangers left from the Season 6 finale. The most urgent involves Charmaine and the mysterious disappearance of her twins. The finale showed Jack discovering her home in disarray and a terrifying scene in the nursery, strongly implying that Calvin was involved in an attack and abduction.
Other storylines continuing into the new season include:
- The pregnancy of Lizzie and Denny and their preparations for parenthood.
- The rekindled romance between Hope and Doc, which the showrunner calls a special example of telling love stories for older characters.
- The evolving relationship between Preacher and Kaia.
Filming for Virgin River Season 7 has already been completed. The series was also previously renewed for an eighth season, ensuring more stories from the town are on the way.
