The popular Netflix series Virgin River has set a date for its return. Fans can mark their calendars for Thursday, March 12, 2026, when the show’s seventh season premieres. This announcement comes with a first-look photo showing newlyweds Mel and Jack, confirming the story picks up right after their wedding.
The new season will consist of 10 episodes, continuing the small-town drama that has captivated audiences since 2019. The release follows a standard pattern for the show, arriving roughly fifteen months after the previous season debuted in December 2024.
Newlywed Life and Major Storylines
At the heart of Season 7 is the next chapter for Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson). The newly married couple will navigate their honeymoon phase while facing new challenges on Jack’s farm.
โWe will continue to see Mel and Jack move down their path towards parenthood,โ showrunner Patrick Sean Smith stated. โWe get to live in the newlywed bliss that they have and the challenges that come with that as a new married couple.โ
A central plot will be the couple’s journey toward adoption. The Season 6 finale introduced Marley, a pregnant patient who asked Mel and Jack to adopt her baby after her original adoption plan fell through. This offers new hope after the couple’s past struggles with miscarriage.
Other key storylines returning for Season 7 include:
- The unresolved love triangle between Brie (Zibby Allen), Mike (Marco Grazzini), and Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth), which reached a boiling point with Mike’s proposal.
- The mystery of Charmaine’s fate, after Jack discovered something troubling in her empty home during the wedding.
- Doc (Tim Matheson) dealing with the suspension of his medical license and an investigation that threatens his practice.
- Muriel’s (Teryl Rothery) ongoing battle with breast cancer, which the showrunner promises will have a positive outlook.
- The impending birth of Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Denny’s (Kai Bradbury) baby.
