Fans of Netflix’s cozy small-town drama can finally mark their calendars. The highly anticipated seventh season of Virgin River has a confirmed release date and a brand-new trailer full of hints about the emotional journeys awaiting the residents of the beloved fictional town.
Following the long-awaited wedding of Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan in the Season 6 finale, Season 7 will premiere globally on Thursday, March 12, 2026. All new episodes will be available to stream at once on Netflix. For viewers in the United States, Canada, and Australia, the season typically becomes available at midnight. In the United Kingdom, new content usually drops at 8:00 AM GMT, and in India, it is often available from 12:30 PM IST.
The new trailer and photos released by Netflix show Mel and Jack beaming as newlyweds, but their path to happiness is never simple.
โWeโre having a baby,โ a joyful Mel tells Jack in the trailer. However, the scene quickly shifts to show Marley, the pregnant patient who asked them to adopt her child, appearing conflicted and asking for more time.
This storyline picks up directly from the Season 6 cliffhanger, continuing the coupleโs challenging journey toward parenthood after past tragedies. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has confirmed the season will explore their honeymoon phase and the obstacles of building a life together on Jackโs farm.
New and Returning Cast Members for the Upcoming Season
The core cast of Virgin River is set to return for the new episodes. This includes leads Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson as Mel and Jack. They are joined by fan favorites like Tim Matheson as Doc, Annette OโToole as Hope, Colin Lawrence as Preacher, and Benjamin Hollingsworth as Brady.
Other returning stars are Zibby Allen (Brie), Sarah Dugdale (Lizzie), Marco Grazzini (Mike), Kai Bradbury (Denny), and Kandyse McClure (Kaia).
Season 7 also introduces three new faces to the town, each bringing their own drama.
- Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) joins as Victoria, a former police officer turned state medical board investigator. She arrives in Virgin River to look into Docโs medical practice, which puts his clinicโs future in jeopardy.
- Cody Kearsley (Riverdale) plays Clay, a tough former rodeo worker. Described as someone who gets noticed when he walks into a room, Clay is searching for his younger sister, from whom he was separated in the foster care system.
- Austin Nichols (One Tree Hill) joins the cast as a mysterious figure from Melโs past, though details about his character remain under wraps.
Key Storylines and Drama Teased for Season 7
While Mel and Jackโs adoption journey and newlywed life take center stage, the trailer promises plenty of other drama swirling around Virgin River.
Doc Mullins faces a professional crisis. With investigator Victoria in town, Doc must fight to save his clinic and the trust of the community. He is seen pleading with residents, stating, โSome of you have lost faith in me, but being your doctor is personal to meโ.
Brieโs love triangle continues. The Season 6 finale ended with Mike proposing to Brie after she confessed to sleeping with her ex, Brady. The new trailer shows Brie and Brady sharing a moment as friends, but her answer to Mikeโs proposal is still a mystery.
Lizzie and Denny welcome their baby, but new motherhood may not be easy. The trailer hints that Lizzie could be struggling with postnatal depression after her daughter is born.
Other town tensions include potential trouble between Preacher and his girlfriend, Kaia, Murielโs ongoing cancer treatment, and the development of a possible love triangle involving Doc, his wife Hope, and Melโs father, Everett.
