The second season of Netflix’s hit series Wednesday concluded with its eighth episode, releasing big revelations and setting up new storylines. The finale provided answers about the Addams family’s past, the true villains of the season, and the fate of key characters like Enid Sinclair and Tyler Galpin. However, it also ended with several cliffhangers that will shape the upcoming third season.
The main antagonists of Season 2 were revealed to be Francoise Galpin and Isaac Night. Francoise is Tyler Galpin’s mother and a Hyde creature like her son. Isaac is Francoise’s brother and was previously known as Slurp, the zombie pet of Pugsley Addams. Their plan involved kidnapping Pugsley to use his electrical powers for a machine designed to cure Francoise of her Hyde condition. This storyline was deeply connected to the Addams family’s history, as Isaac and Gomez Addams were once roommates and best friends at Nevermore Academy.
Thing’s origin story was a major reveal in the finale. Thing was originally the severed hand of Isaac Night. Years ago, Isaac tried to use Gomez Addams as a power source for his dangerous experiment, which would have killed Gomez. Morticia Addams intervened by cutting off Isaac’s hand, causing the machine to explode and kill Isaac. The severed hand was animated by the energy surge and eventually became the beloved Thing. In the present day, Isaac reattached Thing to his body, but Thing ultimately chose to side with the Addams family, defeating Isaac by pulling out his heart.
Enid Sinclair’s Sacrifice and Current Fate
Enid Sinclair made a critical choice in the finale that changes her future. To save Wednesday Addams from being buried alive, Enid transformed into her werewolf form despite the full moon. Earlier in the season, teacher Miss Capri warned Enid that she might be an Alpha werewolf. Alphas risk becoming permanently stuck in their wolf form if they transform under a full moon and are then hunted by other werewolves. Enid’s sacrifice to save her friend proves the strength of their bond. After the rescue, Enid fled into the wilderness and is now missing.
Wednesday Addams promised to find Enid. As the season ends, Wednesday leaves with Uncle Fester and Thing to track her down. Wildlife camera photos place Enid near the Canadian border. Her story will be a central focus of Season 3, exploring whether she can return to her human form and how her relationship with Wednesday will evolve.
Tyler Galpin’s Uncertain Path
Tyler Galpin’s storyline took another twist in the finale. After Wednesday freed him from Isaac’s machine instead of killing him, Tyler fought his mother, Francoise, leading to her death. Left alone, Tyler was approached by Nevermore teacher Miss Isadora Capri. She revealed that her father was a Hyde and offered to take Tyler to a secret community where Hydes can live without masters. Tyler, suspicious of her motives, accepted her offer and left with her.
This development opens new possibilities for Tyler’s character. He has been manipulated by multiple parental figures and is searching for acceptance. The true nature of Capri’s community and her intentions for Tyler remain unclear, setting up a new mystery for the next season.
The Mystery of Aunt Ophelia and Grandmama Hester
A major cliffhanger involves Morticia Addams’ sister, Aunt Ophelia. Throughout the season, Ophelia was described as missing and mentally unstable due to her psychic abilities. The finale revealed that Ophelia is actually alive and being held in a hidden basement within Grandmama Hester’s house. In a vision, Wednesday sees Ophelia writing the words “Wednesday must die” on a wall.
This revelation creates many questions. Why is Hester keeping Ophelia hidden? Does Ophelia want to harm Wednesday, or is she predicting a future event? How will Morticia react to learning her mother has lied about her sister’s whereabouts? This family secret is expected to be a primary plot in Season 3.
Wednesday Addams’ Psychic Powers and Family Bonds
Wednesday Addams struggled with the loss of her psychic visions for much of the season. Her spirit guide, former principal Larissa Weems, suggested her powers were linked to her strained relationship with her mother. The finale showed Wednesday beginning to regain her abilities after reconciling with Morticia. When Wednesday receives Ophelia’s journal as a gift, she has a vision of her aunt, indicating her powers are returning.
This emotional growth for Wednesday is significant. She learns to value her family and friends more, even if she expresses it in her unique way. Her decision to save Tyler and her dedication to finding Enid show her developing empathy.
Other Key Developments and Questions
The finale resolved several other storylines. Principal Dort was exposed as the leader of the Morning Song cult and was subsequently turned to stone and crushed. This leaves the position of Nevermore principal open for Season 3. Eugene offered friendship to Pugsley, which he happily accepted. The fate of other characters, like Bianca and Ajax, remains to be seen.
The show’s creators have confirmed that Season 3 is in development. They have stated their goal to reduce the wait time between seasons after the three-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2. Filming is expected to begin soon.
“Hopefully fans are very surprised and very satisfied by the finale. That reveal is hopefully a nice breadcrumb that leads audiences to wonder about Season 3 and what the new adventure for Wednesday will be,” said co-creator Miles Millar .
“Enid is going to be stuck as a werewolf, having some crazy adventures up in Canada. But sheโs going on a journey to find how to turn back into a human. Wolf-Enid probably expects Wednesday to come find and help her โ or, at least, I imagine she hopes for it,” said Emma Myers, who plays Enid .
“In Season 2 Enid becomes part of the pack. She has everything she wants. But then this new twist on her ability โ it isolates her again. Alphas are a super leader, but they are also feared by other werewolves. Now sheโs a full werewolf โ will she be able to come back? How will that affect her relationships moving forward?” said co-creator Alfred Gough .
The finale of Wednesday Season 2 successfully combined resolution with new mysteries. It deepened the Addams family mythology while setting a compelling path for its characters’ futures. Audiences are left anticipating how Wednesday will navigate the threats from within her own family and save her best friend.
