This week in Korean entertainment saw significant news, including the confirmation of a second season for the fantasy drama The Judge from Hell. Meanwhile, BTS members Jungkook and Jimin were seen traveling to Japan, leading to many questions from fans. Separately, Disney commented on the status of Kim Soo Hyun‘s series Knock-Off amidst recent discussions.
“The Judge from Hell” Gets a Second Season
The drama The Judge from Hell is officially returning for its second season. This news was confirmed by the showrunner and Studio S’ CCO on May 23. The announcement happened during the New York Festivals Storytellers Gala 2025, where the show received a bronze award. The CCOโs final comments hinted at more justice-related stories, suggesting a continuation of the show’s plot.
The first season of the drama ended with a cliffhanger, leaving Kang Bit Na (Park Shin Hye) in a position where she might have to choose between her humanity and her role in Hell. The next season could explore her journey as the heir to Bael, as she works to enforce justice between different realms. Fans have also expressed interest in the romance between Kang Bit Na and Han Da On (Kim Jae Young), which was not fully explored in the first season. The return of the drama has generated excitement among viewers.
BTS‘ Jungkook and Jimin in Japan
On May 24, BTS fans noticed reports of Jungkook at Gimpo Airport, getting ready to travel to Japan. He was dressed simply in a hoodie and a cap, making him hard to recognize, but fans quickly identified him. This happened a day after Jimin was also reportedly seen at the same airport, also traveling to Japan.
These back-to-back sightings have led to many questions among ARMY, the group’s fanbase. With BTS‘ FESTA event coming soon and members nearing their military discharge dates, fans are wondering if a surprise project is in the works. Whether the trips are for a secret schedule or a short personal visit, there is high anticipation, and the possibility of seeing BTS together again feels closer than before.
Disney Addresses “Knock-Off” Delay and Kim Soo Hyun
Kim Soo Hyun‘s upcoming series Knock-Off is facing an uncertain future due to ongoing discussions linked to his rumored dating life involving the late Kim Sae Ron. On May 2, promotional posters for the series appeared on IMDb, leading to new talks about when the show would be released. However, Choi Yeon Woo, Head of Local Content at Walt Disney Korea, confirmed that the series’ release has been put off after an internal review, with no further updates.
Talks about financial penalties against Kim Soo Hyun remain unconfirmed. Meanwhile, co-star Jo Bo Ah has moved away from the project and is now involved in a new drama called Dear Hongrang. The ongoing legal issues involving Kim Sae Ron‘s family add more uncertainty. Fans are unsure if Knock-Off will be released as the situation continues.
NewJeans‘ Danielle and Emotional Oranges Collaboration Clarified
On May 21, American R&B duo Emotional Oranges addressed rumors about a possible collaboration with NewJeans‘ Danielle. The rumors started after the duo shared a picture of Danielle in a studio chair on May 19. They wrote, “Just give us some time, guys. It’s coming,” along with orange and bunny emojis. These symbols are often linked to Emotional Oranges and NewJeans.
This made fans think a collaboration was in progress, even though NewJeans is currently limited from solo activities because of an ongoing legal dispute with ADOR. However, the duo later clarified on social media that there is no collaboration with Danielle. They explained, “I was just helping produce a song for Livvie,” referring to Danielle‘s sister, Olivia Marsh. They apologized for any confusion and stated that they did not mean to mislead fans. The original social media post has since been removed.
New Report on Kim Sae Ron‘s Relationship Timeline
Kim Sae Ron‘s past relationships have gained new attention after a May 21 report by Money Today. The report stated that the actress was dating a senior idol, referred to as Mr. A, starting in 2018. They broke up in 2019, got back together in 2022 during her DUI incident, and separated again in early 2023. People close to the situation claim that the two stayed in touch until late 2023. This contradicts her family’s claims that she dated Kim Soo Hyun from 2015 to 2021.
Differences in texts, photos, and timelines have created doubts, especially since she was also linked to WOODZ in 2021โ2022 and others in 2016 and 2019. Kim Soo Hyun‘s agency previously denied the texts revealed by Garosero, calling them made up, and asked for forensic verification. Photos supposedly proving their relationship also seem to be from after 2019. With no solid evidence presented, the true timeline of Kim Sae Ron‘s relationships remains unclear.
The entertainment world continues to see movement with both confirmed returns and ongoing developments for various artists and productions.
