Netflix’s upcoming drama The Trunk promises to deliver a bold and unconventional storytelling experience. Directed by Kim Kyu Tae, known for his acclaimed work on Our Blues and It’s Okay, That’s Love, this series marks his first collaboration with Netflix. I spent a lot of time discussing with the team to create a ‘bold yet restrained style.’ I aimed to create a unique atmosphere and layered imagery.”
Kim further highlighted the central themes of the series, stating:
“The major themes of ‘The Trunk’ are ‘romance’ and ‘mystery.’ I wanted to keep the audience questioning and draw them into an emotional psychological game.”

Sound and editing play a critical role in enhancing the drama’s mysterious atmosphere:
“In the music, we aimed for an eerie, sensual, and unconventional feel. The sound design used subtle white noise to heighten the audience’s senses. The editing struck a perfect balance, alternating between the mystery and romance with impeccable timing.”
