During the filming of the K-drama Backstreet Rookie, popular South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook made headlines by saving a kitten from a sewer. Known for his versatility in acting, Ji’s quick action in this real-life scenario further won the hearts of his fans.
Ji Chang Wook Saves Kitten During Filming
The incident occurred while Ji Chang Wook was filming the first episode of Backstreet Rookie. He was seen pulling a kitten from a street sewer, nearly climbing inside to reach it. Fans were moved by the scene, but some believed it was unscripted. However, the rescue was part of the storyline.
Despite completing the scene, Ji Chang Wook didn’t immediately let go of the kitten. He continued to hold and keep it warm. The video of Ji fondly petting the kitten after the shoot also gained attention, with the staff later taking the animal away safely.
Backstreet Rookie, a romantic comedy that aired from June to August 2020, centers on Choi Dae Hyun, played by Ji Chang Wook, and Jung Saet Byul, portrayed by Kim Yoo Jung. The story focuses on a convenience store worker struggling to run his business and a lively part-time employee who helps turn things around.
Ji Chang Wook’s Acting Career
Ji Chang Wook is admired for his wide range of roles, spanning action, comedy, romance, and even villainous characters. His performances in Healer, Suspicious Partner, The K2, and Lovestruck in the City have solidified his status as one of South Korea’s most beloved actors.
His most recent works include portraying King Go Nam Mu in Queen Woo, starring alongside Jeong Jong Seo. Ji also played a key antagonist role in the action thriller Revolver, released in August 2024.
