WINNER’s Song Mino is facing scrutiny over allegations of manipulating his attendance during his mandatory alternative military service. Police have conducted a search and seizure at his workplace and obtained CCTV footage as part of the investigation.
Details of the Investigation
Song Mino‘s military service as a social service worker concluded on December 23. However, due to these allegations, he may face re-enlistment. The investigation began after the Military Manpower Administration passed the case to the police.
Mapo Police Station conducted a search and seizure at Mino‘s workplace, the Mapo Residence Convenience Facility. They have obtained CCTV footage and are checking his attendance logs to verify the claims against him. The investigation will also include examining entry and exit logs, location data, and testimonies from employees at the facility. If the allegations are proven true, the Military Manpower Administration may take disciplinary action against him.
Initial Accusations and Developments
The accusations against Mino first surfaced in a report by Dispatch. The report claimed that Mino took many leaves that did not follow the regulations and rarely appeared at work, especially after transferring to the public welfare facility in March.
The officer in charge of the social service personnel, identified as Mr. L, is also under scrutiny for allegedly giving Mino preferential treatment. Dispatch reported that Mino took a nearly week-long trip to Hawaii in December and rarely went to work after returning to Korea. Mr. L has denied manipulating Mino‘s attendance and reportedly refused to show CCTV footage to Dispatch.
Further accusations arose with the release of photos showing Mino attending a DJ party in Korea while still serving his military service. He has also been accused of participating in other leisure activities, raising concerns about his commitment to his duties. An official from Mino‘s workplace stated that his sick leaves were due to social phobia and panic disorders. However, the reports of his attendance at parties have brought these claims into question.
