Yo Yo Honey Singh Reignites Feud with Badshah, Takes Dig at His Rapping Skills

The long-standing rivalry between Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah, two of India’s most popular rappers, appears to have resurfaced. Despite the seemingly reconciled differences last year, recent social media activity suggests otherwise, with Honey Singh publicly mocking Badshah’s rapping abilities.

Honey Singh Takes Aim at Badshah’s Lyrics

The latest spat between the two musicians unfolded on social media when Honey Singh shared a promo video from the 15th edition of Indian Idol. The video featured Badshah freestyling alongside Vishal Dadlani and Shreya Ghoshal. During the performance, Badshah delivered a lighthearted rap with lyrics referencing popular Indian street food: “Dilli ka golgappa, Mumbai se bhelpuri, Chandigarh ki lassi ko gadd gadd pi jaate hai.”

Instead of offering support or praise, Honey Singh took the opportunity to make a sarcastic remark. He reposted the video on his Instagram Stories, adding the comment: “Aise lyrics likhwane hai bass taqdeer ban jayegi meri” (Such lyrics will make my fortune), followed by a laughing emoji. This comment seems to mock Badshah’s simple lyrical style, suggesting it lacks the depth or complexity Honey Singh values.

As of now, Badshah has not responded to the dig made by Honey Singh. Fans, however, have begun speculating that this jab may reignite their once highly publicized feud.

A History of Rivalry

The tension between Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah goes back over a decade, despite their initial partnership. Both artists started their careers together in the rap group Mafia Mundeer, alongside fellow rappers Ikka, Lil Golu, and Raftaar. The group found success with hits like Khol Botal, Begani Naar Buri, and Delhi Ke Deewane. However, the group disbanded in 2012, following a series of personal conflicts and professional disagreements.

Since then, Honey Singh and Badshah have both risen to individual fame, becoming two of the most influential names in Indian music. But their post-split relationship was marked by subtle social media jabs and public comments, which fans closely followed.

In recent years, the two appeared to have set their differences aside. Last year, the rivalry seemed to be a thing of the past when the two musicians refrained from making negative comments about each other. However, with this latest Instagram post, it seems the tension has resurfaced.

Past Comments and Reactions

Although both artists have stayed tight-lipped about their feud in recent times, they have spoken about each other in interviews. In a conversation with Lallantop, Honey Singh revealed that rapper Raftaar had released more diss tracks aimed at him than Badshah. Despite this, he expressed respect for Raftaar’s musical talents.

Honey Singh also disclosed that Badshah’s family once approached him about a possible collaboration, but he declined the offer, hinting at the strained relationship between the two.

Badshah, on the other hand, addressed Honey Singh’s health struggles in a podcast. Referring to Honey Singh’s battle with mental health issues, Badshah expressed his sympathy, saying, “It’s unfortunate what Honey Singh went through.” He compared Honey Singh’s situation to a cricketer becoming a “washout after making a century.”

Badshah further reflected on his own experiences with mental health, sharing that while his personal issues affected him deeply, he made an effort not to let them interfere with his career. His comments emphasized the importance of maintaining mental stability in a high-pressure industry, contrasting his approach with Honey Singh’s struggles.

Future of Their Feud

With Honey Singh reigniting the rivalry, fans are left wondering whether this will escalate further or fizzle out. While the dig may seem like a harmless joke to some, it brings attention back to a long-standing issue between two of India’s top rappers.
