The Kannada star Yash, who became a national sensation with the KGF franchise, is getting ready to return to the big screen after nearly four years. His upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, has been a hot topic of discussion ever since its teaser dropped. Now, while promoting his other big project, Ramayana, at the CinemaCon 2026 event in Las Vegas, Yash has opened up about what makes Toxic so different from regular action movies. He compared it to the Hollywood film Sinners, calling it a rare and layered original story.

Yash Compares ‘Toxic’ to ‘Sinners’ as a Fresh Original Idea

During his conversations at CinemaCon, Yash explained that the entertainment industry often relies on existing franchises because they are safe business choices. However, he believes that Toxic stands out because it is an original intellectual property (IP), similar to how the movie Sinners was a fresh take that audiences loved.

He mentioned that both Toxic and the upcoming Ramayana share a common goal of showing Indian talent on a global level. He said the team shot the film in English to help it reach viewers around the world.

“These days, it’s very difficult to find original ideas. We have to think of business and run franchises. But Toxic is a very unique IP, something like Sinners. People accepted and enjoyed Sinners. Toxic is going to be a very original and refreshing gangster film,” Yash told the media.

A Deeper Look: More Than Just a Gangster Film

Yash stressed that while the posters and trailers might make Toxic look like a typical gangster movie filled with guns and action, the story actually goes much deeper. He described the film as a “layered psychological drama” that explores the human mind and difficult choices.

The actor explained that the movie uses metaphors to tell the story of a person’s dark side and struggles in a way that feels different and fresh. He is excited for the audience to see a side of the gangster genre that they haven’t seen before.

“On the surface level, Toxic might look like a gangster film but it is very layered. It helps you understand a person’s dilemmas and dark side in a very unusual way. Most of the things are told through metaphors,” Yash explained during an interview.

Working with a Strong Female Ensemble and Director

One of the unique selling points of Toxic is its cast. Apart from Yash, the film brings together five leading actresses who are at the top of their game. Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, and Tara Sutaria all play key roles in this action drama.

Yash praised director Geetu Mohandas for her vision. He noted that having so many popular actresses agree to be part of the same project shows how strong the script is. He also mentioned that the director has brought a new and exciting take to the gangster film genre, making it a visual treat that will also leave an impact on the viewer’s mind.

Release Date and Streaming Plans for ‘Toxic’

There were recent rumors online suggesting that the film might be postponed again. However, actress Tara Sutaria has confirmed that the release date is fixed. The movie is on track for its scheduled debut.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is set to hit theaters worldwide on June 4, 2026. The film was originally set for a March release but was moved due to the conflict in the Gulf region.

While the primary theatrical release will be in Kannada and English (since it was shot in both languages), the team will also release dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam to ensure it reaches a wide pan-Indian audience.
