The new crime drama M.I.A. just dropped on Peacock, and viewers are talking about its star-packed lineup. The show comes from Bill Dubuque, one of the brains behind the hit series Ozark. All nine episodes of season one arrived on May 7, 2026, and the series quickly climbed to the number one spot on Peacock’s US charts.

The story follows a young woman named Etta Tiger Jonze who loses her family to a brutal attack. She then sets out to track down the twelve men responsible while building new alliances in Miami’s dangerous criminal underground.

Gisela is known for her work in Her Study of a Killer and Chasers. This role marks her biggest project yet, putting her front and center in a major streaming series.

  • Brittany Adebumola plays Lovely, one of Etta’s new friends who helps her navigate the chaos. Adebumola previously starred in 4400 and The Other Black Girl.
  • Dylan T. Jackson plays Stanley, joining Lovely and Etta as part of the core group. Jackson has appeared in Godfather of Harlem and City on Fire.
  • Cary Elwes takes on the role of a detective who is trying to find Etta before others get to her first. Elwes is famous for his roles in The Princess Bride and the Saw movies.

  • Alberto Guerra plays a key role in the drug world drama. He appeared in Griselda and Narcos: Mexico.

What Is M.I.A. About?

The series takes place in the Florida Keys and Miami. Etta Tiger Jonze dreams of a better life in Miami’s bright and busy world. But her family runs a drug business, and when that business gets attacked, everything falls apart.

Etta becomes the only survivor of the attack that kills most of her family. She then goes after the twelve men who carried out the killings. Along the way, she builds a new family with Lovely and Stanley, bringing together characters from Miami’s Latino and Haitian communities.

The showrunner is Karen Campbell, who previously worked on Dexter. Bill Dubuque created the series and serves as an executive producer.

All nine episodes of M.I.A. season one are now streaming on Peacock. Each episode runs for about 60 minutes. The show is available to subscribers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India through the platform.

Peacock released the entire season at once, so viewers can watch at their own speed. The show’s first episode will also air on NBC on Thursday, May 14.

The series has gotten mixed reactions from critics but strong numbers from audiences. It holds a 67% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and became the number one show on Peacock in the US within one day of release.
