The From Season 4 finale delivered one of the show’s most devastating and game-changing conclusions, with multiple character deaths, a shocking transformation, and a final act that leaves the town of Fromville more vulnerable than ever before. Episode 10, titled “If a Tree Falls in the Forest…,” brought the season to a close on June 28, 2026, setting the stage for the previously announced fifth and final season.
Fatima’s Transformation and Near-Death Sacrifice
Fatima’s (Pegah Ghafoori) terrifying journey throughout the season reached its peak in the finale. After displaying increasingly alarming symptoms—including a blood pressure of 53 over 33 and a heart rate of just 19 beats per minute—Fatima’s body finally gave in to the supernatural forces that had been consuming her. Her transformation into one of the Creatures was completed in a desperate moment to save her friends.
When Jade (David Alpay) and Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) became trapped in the cavern of bones beneath the Bottle Tree, Boyd (Harold Perrineau) led a rescue mission into the tunnels. As the Creatures closed in on the group, Fatima made a heartbreaking choice. She told the others to run, saying she could buy them time. At that moment, she fully embraced her transformation, turning into a monster and letting out a piercing scream like the Creatures. Using this distraction, Jade, Tabitha, Ellis, and Boyd were able to escape. The group barely made it out, as Fatima had told Ellis to “Remember who I was” before committing herself to her monstrous fate.
While the show hasn’t explicitly confirmed her death, the act of becoming one of the monsters to save the others has effectively removed her from the human cast. The rules of her transformation remain unclear—whether she is now a Creature for good or if she could potentially regain her humanity in the final season.
Multiple Deaths and Tragic Losses in the Finale
The finale didn’t stop with Fatima. Several major characters met their end in the final episode.
- Marielle was killed after Smiley entered the clinic when an earthquake dislodged the protective talisman. As Fatima began transforming, Smiley referred to her as “Mother” before fatally attacking Mari. Kristi, Ellis, and Randall arrived moments too late, with Mari dying in Kristi’s arms.
- Elgin refused an offer from Sophia/the Man in Yellow, who offered to send him home in exchange for his help. Remaining steadfast, he rejected her proposal and was subsequently killed.
- Victor also nearly died in a tragic confrontation with his father, Henry, whose mental state had been deteriorating throughout the season. Henry began to believe the town wasn’t real and decided to end Victor’s life, thinking it would allow him to escape what he saw as a dream. He loaded a revolver with bullets from Victor’s lunchbox and cornered his son. Just as Henry was about to shoot Victor, Ethan entered the room. Victor lunged at his father, disarming him before anyone was harmed.

The finale’s most devastating turn came from Sophia. While the town was distracted by the chaos of the rescue mission, she and Clara secretly removed every protective talisman from the town’s buildings. This act left Fromville completely defenseless against the Creatures that come out at night.
The episode ended with Sophia encountering the Boy in White in the forest. She then threw the stolen talismans into the Farway Tree, seemingly destroying the town’s only form of protection. “You’re gonna lose this time,” the Boy in White told her. “I guess we’ll see,” Sophia replied.
The loss of the talismans is a massive cliffhanger, setting up an almost impossible challenge for the survivors as they head into the show’s fifth and final season, which is expected to premiere in 2027.
