TETSURYO Episode 1 Recap: Misaki’s First Steps

Episode 1, titled “Where Should We Go?” (どんなところに、行こうかな?), introduced Misaki Sata, a first-year university student who feels lost about her future. Her childhood friend, Yayoi Nakano, asked her what she wanted to do with her life, but Misaki could not give a clear answer. She had spent most of her life without a strong passion or direction.

While studying for university entrance exams, Misaki stumbled upon a talk by an enthusiastic railway company agent. The presentation sparked something inside her, even though she did not fully understand why. After enrolling in university, Misaki decided to join a club to find something she could be passionate about. She attended the club information fair but felt overwhelmed by the sheer number of choices.

The Railway Travel Club (Tetsuryo Club) approached her. Its members, Kodama Orihara, Ushio Yagami, and Usa Harutachi, stood out from the typical club recruiters. The club was dedicated to traveling by train and exploring Japan’s railway network. Misaki initially felt unsure, but a moment of curiosity led her to stay on the train past her usual stop, choosing to explore the end of the line instead of going home.

That decision changed everything. Misaki realized that joining the Railway Travel Club would give her a new experience and a chance to discover what she truly wanted. When classes resumed, she found the clubroom and formally requested to join as a new member.

TETSURYO Episode 2 Preview: What to Expect

Episode 2, “What is the Tetsuryo Club?”, will show Misaki’s first official activity as a club member. According to the official synopsis, Misaki begins activities with her senior members Kodama, Ushio, and Usa. However, since Misaki is not knowledgeable about railways, she struggles to understand what she should do first.

To help her settle in, Kodama suggests a welcome trip to the Choshi Electric Railway (銚子電鉄). The episode will follow the group as they travel together, and Misaki will continue learning about the world of trains and the Tetsudou Musume (Railway Girls) who work within it.
