Nicole Kidman previously told PEOPLE about the physical demands of the series: “[There’s an enormous amount of action in this show]. We both had to work really hard, because they would share this fantastic dialogue, and you want to deliver on that. But it’s also very physical and demanding.”
Cast and Characters Returning for Season 3
The main cast returns for Season 3 with familiar faces and some new additions.
Zoe Saldaña returns as Joe McNamara, the CIA station chief leading the Lioness program. Nicole Kidman is back as Kaitlyn Meade, the high-ranking CIA officer who oversees the program. Michael Kelly returns as Byron Westfield, the CIA Deputy Director for Operations. Morgan Freeman also returns as Edwin Mullins, the United States Secretary of State.

The Real Story Behind Lioness

Co-creator Jill Wagner shared the origin of the concept with Woman’s World: “[My husband and I] came up with the idea in my backyard in Tennessee. He was the first person that told me about lionesses. I didn’t know they existed. Taylor has created this version of them that you see, but these women exist, and there are badass women that go on these ops, and they do these jobs and we’re telling their story. They do exist, whether they’re called lionesses or not.”
The show is created by Taylor Sheridan, known for Yellowstone, Landman, and other hit series. It is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.
