What Happened in Season 1
The first season of Clevatess introduced viewers to a dark fantasy world. The story begins with Alicia, a young woman who always wanted to be a hero. The king chose her and 12 others as heroes for a quest. Their mission was to defeat Clevatess, the lord of magical beasts.
But things did not go as planned. The heroes failed to defeat Clevatess. Instead of destroying the demon king, they ended up causing a crisis. The heroes themselves might bring about the greatest catastrophe that would wipe out all humanity. The world’s last hope lies in a baby entrusted to Clevatess.
Clevatess, one of the Lords of Dark Beasts, made a surprising choice. He revived Alicia, a hero he personally killed. He also took in an orphaned humanoid baby who may be the world’s last hope. Not knowing how to care for a child, Clevatess chose to revive the very hero he killed to help him.
The first season had 12 episodes and ran from July 2 to September 17, 2025. At the end of the season, the production team announced a second season.
What Happened in Clevatess II So Far
The second season moves the story to a new setting. Clevatess, disguised as a young boy, is infiltrating the Divine Academy Solsein. The demon king must navigate a corrupt school to secure the dark research of the deceased mage Drel.
Episode 1 aired on July 8, 2026, with the title “Solsein, the Divine Academy”. It introduced the academy setting and showed Clevatess beginning his mission in disguise.
Episode 2 came out on July 15, 2026.
Episode 3 released on July 22, 2026.
Episode 4 aired on July 29, 2026.
The show has been building up the conflict at the academy. Clevatess must hide his true identity while searching for information. Alicia, now alive again, helps him navigate this new world. The baby, who may be the key to saving humanity, remains an important part of the story.
The production team released the first preview of episode 5 on August 1, 2026.

Why You Should Watch This Anime
Clevatess II offers a fresh take on the fantasy genre. The story turns the usual hero-versus-demon narrative on its head. The demon king is not the villain here. He becomes a caretaker and protector. The heroes are not entirely good either. Their actions might destroy the world.
The relationship between Clevatess and Alicia is unusual and interesting. He killed her, then brought her back to life. Now they must work together. The baby adds another layer to this strange family. This found-family setup gives the show emotional weight.
The second season moves the action to a school setting. This change brings new characters and new challenges. Clevatess must pretend to be a student while searching for dangerous information. The school setting adds mystery and intrigue to the fantasy elements.
The animation by Lay-duce is solid. The character designs by Souichirou Sako are detailed and distinct. The music by Nobuaki Nobusawa adds to the dark atmosphere. The voice cast includes many well-known actors who bring the characters to life.
The show does not shy away from dark themes. It deals with death, power, and the cost of war. But it also shows moments of connection and care. The balance between darkness and warmth makes the story engaging.
For fans of dark fantasy, unique premises, or strong character dynamics, Clevatess II delivers. The first four episodes of season 2 have set up an interesting conflict at the academy. Episode 5 will continue this story on August 5.
