Episode 4 Recap
Episode 4, which aired on July 29, 2026, took a serious turn for Leon. The episode begins with Leon being arrested for treason. A planted box of false evidence shows up at a tea party, and Leon goes from being beloved to being thrown in prison.
The guards arrest Leon, seizing his airship and armor before imprisoning him. Some guards beat him for defending himself. Two of the guards escorting Leon turn out to be Queen Milene and Gilbert, who inform him that the Marquis is secretly working with the principal. They convince Leon to remain imprisoned to help their plan.
Angelica is excluded from the plan and must confront Hertrude directly. Later, Hertrude comes to Leon’s cell and offers him a way out—she wants him to leave the kingdom and join her service. Leon flatly refuses.
Meanwhile, Angelica and Olivia appeal to Marie for help. Marie humbles them to their knees in public before agreeing to help. Julius and the other princes interfere and force Marie to promise she will help Leon, even though she has no idea how she would do that. The episode ends with the fleet of the Principality moving toward the kingdom, raising the stakes for episode 5.
What to Expect in Episode 5
Episode 5 picks up with Leon still in prison. The episode is expected to deal with the aftermath of Marie’s reluctant agreement to help him. Julius and the other princes are already on their way to rescue Leon, but their desire to free him may lead to complications.
The Principality is also preparing to act, forcing the kingdom to deal with Leon quickly. The anime is based on the light novel series by Yomu Mishima, with illustrations by Monda. The series has sold over 4.5 million copies. Season 2 is produced by Studio ENGI and is expected to adapt roughly Volumes 4 through 6 of the light novels.
The second season changes the setting from the Holfort Kingdom to the Alzer Republic. This new location brings different political factions, new academy dynamics, fresh heroines and rivals, and another set of game rules that Leon refuses to follow. The Republic feels less predictable than Holfort, with more political games happening behind the scenes.
