The original anime series Grow Up Show: Sunflower Circus continues its summer run, and viewers are looking forward to Episode 6. Episode 5, titled “There Is Nowhere I Belong,” aired on August 1, 2026. The episode focused on Akane storming off while Mizuka searched the mountains for Rafflesia Circus’s missing elephant, François.
Mizuka went looking for the escaped elephant in an attempt to get a reward. The episode raised questions about how a circus committee would care about animal treatment, especially given the 1950s setting. The review from Bubbleblabber noted that while it might be hard to believe other circuses would care about animal welfare, the Sunflower Circus’s concern felt genuine.

The Story So Far
Grow Up Show: Sunflower Circus is set in 1950s Japan, during the postwar economic boom. Despite the booming economy, the Sunflower Circus is struggling financially.
The troupe is led by ringmaster Maria, who runs the operation like a general. The Sunflower Circus travels around Japan performing and competing for a spot in the “Circus Collection,” an elite global festival.
The story begins when Mizuka Tsurumaki, a circus prodigy, joins the troupe under certain circumstances. Her arrival begins to shift the fortune of the struggling circus. The question arises whether this encounter was chance or destiny.
The Japanese voice cast includes Tomoka Noda as Mizuka Tsurumaki, Shiori Kurosaki as Ouka Kawasumi, Reo Osanai as Imari Agano, Nanako Ando as Isuzu Ikazuchi, Tomori Kusunoki as Aoi Yura, Yuko Natsuyoshi as Akane Yura, Yuna Kamakura as Shizuku Sakawa, Yuka Iwahashi as Svietlana, Ai Kayano as Rin Mamiya, and Rie Kugimiya as Maria.

The opening theme song is “Yurari Yureru” performed by NOMELON NOLEMON. The ending theme song is “DAYS!” performed by the Aooo unit.
