What Happened in Episode 5

The Story So Far
The series is set in early 20th-century Kyoto, in a world where steam engines have advanced but electricity remains unknown. Kihachi Sakamoto is a young inventor who once dreamed of changing the world alongside his brother Seiroku. But Seiroku disappeared, and the dream died with him. Now Kihachi keeps his head down and trusts no one.
Inako Momokawa is a deeply religious girl carrying quiet grief. Her mother is gone, and her family has placed heavy expectations on her. When Inako’s father decides her marriage plans without asking her, she is about to give up hope. But Kihachi draws out her true feelings of wanting to run away from her family.
The two strike a deal: if they can track down the missing Electrical Catalog, Inako’s engagement gets called off. Together, they seek the secrets of the 20th-Century Electrical Catalog, a book that depicts their dreams and could bring the Age of Electricity.
