The mustachioed American football coach who taught the world about belief, biscuits, and being a goldfish is back. Ted Lasso Season 4 arrives on Apple TV+ this Wednesday, August 5, 2026, three years after the show’s third season wrapped up. The new season brings 10 episodes, with one new episode releasing every Wednesday until the finale on October 7, 2026.

Where We Left Off at the End of Season 3
When the third season of Ted Lasso concluded in 2023, it felt like the end of a story. AFC Richmond had fought their way back to the Premier League and finished second overall behind Manchester City. It was a massive achievement for a club that had been relegated just a few seasons earlier.
But the biggest moment came from Ted himself. After three years in England, Ted made the decision to return home to Kansas City to be closer to his son, Henry, and his ex-wife, Michelle. He boarded a plane back to the United States, leaving behind the club and the people he had grown to love.
The finale gave every major character a moment of closure. Roy Kent was named the new head coach of AFC Richmond. He also decided to go to therapy with Dr. Sharon, showing real growth from the angry, closed-off footballer fans met in Season 1. Coach Beard stayed behind to help Roy and got married to Jane at Stonehenge. Nate Shelley, who had left Richmond for West Ham and then returned, helped Roy and Beard hang the repaired “Believe” sign above the coaches’ office.
Keeley Jones was navigating a confusing place in her relationship with Roy, but she was also making big moves in her career. She pitched the idea of a women’s team to Rebecca Welton. Jamie Tartt mended his relationship with his father, and Sam Obisanya earned a call-up to the Nigerian national team.
The final scene of the season showed Ted back in Kansas, coaching his son Henry’s school soccer team and doling out the same kind of advice he once gave to the Richmond players. It was a peaceful ending that suggested Ted had found his way home.
What Season 4 Is About
Season 4 does not simply pick up where things left off. The show has taken a new direction. Ted returns to Richmond after being invited back to coach a second-division women’s football team. The team is called the Lady Greyhounds.
The official synopsis says that throughout the season, Ted and the team “learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would”. The new storyline explores the challenges faced by women athletes, including issues like sexism, motherhood, and equal treatment.
Keeley’s pitch to Rebecca at the end of Season 3 was a success. The women’s team is now a reality, and Ted is back to help build it from the ground up. The season also shifts some of the action to Kansas, which is both Ted’s home and the real-life hometown of actor Jason Sudeikis. The cast filmed scenes in Kansas City for the first time in the show’s history.
Returning Cast and New Faces
Most of the main cast is back for Season 4. Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso. Hannah Waddingham is back as AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. Juno Temple returns as Keeley Jones. Brett Goldstein is back as Roy Kent. Brendan Hunt returns as Coach Beard, and Jeremy Swift is back as Leslie Higgins.
However, several regulars from the men’s squad are no longer part of the main cast. Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Isaac McAdoo, and Colin Hughes will not return as series regulars, though some may make cameo appearances. The future of Nick Mohammed’s Nate Shelley also remains uncertain.
Several new cast members join the show for Season 4. Tanya Reynolds, known for Sex Education, plays Alice Chilton, a coach for the women’s team. Faye Marsay, from Adolescence, plays Lizzie, a sharp-tongued centre back. Grant Feely plays Ted’s son, Henry. Other new additions include Jude Mack as goalie Boots, Abbie Hern as aspiring player Gemma, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey.

Season 4 marks a fresh start for the series while keeping the optimism and humour that made it a global success. Ted Lasso is back, and this time, he is coaching a whole new team.
