BLACKPINK is set to complete 10 years since their debut on August 8, 2026. But instead of celebration, the K-pop group’s milestone has turned into a storm of anger from their loyal fanbase BLINKs. YG Entertainment announced a last-minute meet-and-greet event on August 6, just two days before the anniversary. The catch? Only “select members” will attend based on their schedules. This means there is no guarantee that all four members – Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa – will be together for this historic moment.
Fans have flooded social media with criticism, calling the event a rushed move that shows little respect for BLACKPINK‘s decade-long journey. Many are questioning whether the members themselves even care about the group anymore.
What YG Entertainment Announced for BLACKPINK’s 10th Anniversary
YG Entertainment revealed on August 6 that BLACKPINK will hold a “10th Anniversary Meet & Greet” on August 8, 2026 in Seoul, South Korea. The event is scheduled for the afternoon (KST), but the exact location will only be shared with the winners.
Only 40 lucky fans will get the chance to attend through a random raffle draw. To apply, fans must have an active BLACKPINK Weverse Membership completed by July 31, 2026. The application window opened on August 6, and winners will be announced on August 7 through Weverse. Participants must be at least 15 years old and carry a valid government-issued photo ID for verification.
The announcement that angered fans the most stated: “Only certain members will attend the event (those available according to their schedules)”. YG Entertainment has not revealed which members will be present.
BLINKs Express Outrage on Social Media
The response from fans has been overwhelmingly negative. Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their disappointment and anger.
“A meet & greet without all the members… BLACKPINK really had nothing planned at all for their 10th anniversary, I’m speechless,” one fan wrote.
Another fan questioned the purpose of the celebration itself:

For many fans, merchandise is not enough. One widely shared phrase among BLINKs is: “We don’t want merch, we want Blackpink”.
The BLACKPINK Blink Union, a fan organization, issued an open letter to YG Entertainment. The statement read:
“BLACKPINK is not just one of YG Entertainment’s artists — they are the biggest girl group in the world. Their legacy has been built through their identity as a team and a 10th anniversary is a rare milestone that deserves to be celebrated in a meaningful way”.
The fan union urged the agency to organize new music releases, special performances, and projects that highlight BLACKPINK’s decade-long journey.
Comparing BLACKPINK’s Anniversary to Other K-Pop Groups
Fans have pointed out that other K-pop groups went all out for their 10th anniversaries.
BTS marked their 10th debut anniversary in June 2023 with a massive celebration in Seoul. Around 400,000 fans gathered at Yeouido Hangang Park for immersive exhibits, costumes, and a huge fireworks show. The group also released a fan-dedicated single called “Take Two”.
SEVENTEEN followed in May 2025 with their own grand celebrations. They released their fifth studio album “Happy Burstday,” held a three-day Han River festival called ‘B-Day Party’ in Seoul, and organized special fandom events around the world.
Compared to these, BLACKPINK’s plans look very small. One fan commented that the milestone “feels nothing like an actual anniversary if we compare it to other K-pop groups”.
The Shift in Blame: From YG to the Members
In the past, fans usually blamed YG Entertainment for any issues with BLACKPINK’s activities. But this time, the anger has shifted toward the members themselves.
Fans are upset because the members have been busy with their solo projects. Many feel that the members could have made time for the group’s anniversary if they really wanted to.

Some fans even called the members’ expressions of love for the group and fans a lie:
“The way four of them always talk about how much they love each other how much they love Blackpink and blinks it’s just big shameless lie fact is they love the fame success that BP name give them”.
What About BLACKPINK’s Recent Group Activities?
BLACKPINK released their third EP “Deadline” in February 2026. It was their first group release in more than three years, following 2022’s “Born Pink”. But fans were disappointed with the promotion. The album mostly had just a music video and album jacket photos, without the usual show performances, dance videos, or other promotional content.
The group also recently wrapped up their “Deadline” world tour in January 2026. Some fans have tried to be understanding, noting that demanding another large-scale project right after a world tour may be unrealistic.
