YG Announces 40-Person Fan Meeting Just Two Days Before Anniversary
The trouble started when YG Entertainment finally revealed plans for the 10th anniversary on August 6, only two days before the actual date. The agency announced a “Meet & Greet” event at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul. But the details made fans angry.
Only 40 randomly selected fans from the official paid fanclub could attend. To apply, fans needed to have a paid Weverse membership before July 31. Many BLINKs had not renewed their memberships because BLACKPINK had not been active on the platform for over a year. The application window was also very short, lasting only nine hours on August 6.
The initial announcement also did not guarantee that all four members would be present. It said only “some members” whose schedules allowed would attend. This created even more anger among fans who had been waiting years for a full-group event.

The frustration among BLINKs reached a dangerous level on August 6. A woman believed to be a BLACKPINK fan was arrested in Seoul’s Mapo District after trying to smash the glass door of YG Entertainment‘s headquarters with a golf club.
Video of the incident spread quickly on social media. It showed the unidentified woman swinging the club at the building’s entrance multiple times. Police took her in for questioning about the incident and her motives.
This extreme action showed just how upset fans had become. Many BLINKs felt that YG Entertainment was not treating the group’s 10th anniversary with the respect it deserved.
Jisoo Apologizes Twice — Once in Writing, Once on Live Broadcast
